Zingerman’s Food Tours Announces Grand Traverse Bay Food Tour, Sept. 27-29. Chef Kieron Hales of Cornman Farms takes guests on a culinary adventure of one of America’s top five foodie towns.
WHAT: Zingerman’s Food Tours are excited to announce the dates and tour guide for the second annual Grand Traverse Bay Food Tour. The tour takes place September 27-29, 2019, and is lead by Zingerman’s Cornman Farms’ Executive Chef and Owner, Kieron Hales and his wife Joanie. For over three days full of tasting, eating, drinking and learning, guests will enjoy rare access to local artisans from craft breweries, acclaimed wineries, food producers and more.
Named by Bon Appétit as one of its top five foodie towns in America, Grand Traverse has long been recognized as a tourist destination and its flourishing food scene is something to celebrate. With a special micro-climate that provides ideal conditions for some of the best farms, Orchards and Wineries in the Midwest, this lakeside community draws millions of visitors each year. With Zingerman’s Food Tours, guests enjoy behind-the-scenes access and activities with some of the most respected businesses, business owners and craftsmen in the area, such as:
- A private tour and wine tasting of L. Mawby Wines production facility with founder Larry Mawby
- Harvesting the bounty at Loma Farm before sitting down for an Italian inspired dinner
- A private menu prepared by chef-owners, Eric Patterson and Jen Blakeslee at The Cook’s House, one of the top dining destinations in the area and a personal favorite of Chef Kieron
- A tour with the founder of Food for Thought, a innovative producer of boutique, artisanal local foods
- A private tasting and tour of Great Lakes Potato Chip Co. where guests will taste potato chips at different points in the production process
- A visit to Traverse City’s gourmet food truck hub, Little Fleet with founder, Gary Jonas
- And many more delicious stops…
In addition to the incredible access Zingerman’s Food Tours provides, guests can also take advantage of Chef Kieron’s extensive knowledge as their guide. With a culinary career that began in London at the age of 13, Chef Kieron has traveled the globe, living and cooking in 27 different countries, including three Michelin star restaurants Paul Bocuse in France and Dal Pescatore in Italy. Additionally, he has had the honor of cooking for the British Royal family and three U.S. Presidents. He believes that dining experiences become more meaningful when you know where your food is coming from and who is making it, and thus is excited to share his passion on this culinary excursion of Grand Traverse Bay.
