This is a review for the children’s book You Are Here written by Zach Manbeck which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.
The past couple weeks I’ve felt like I’m living in a house of FOG. No, matter how many times I try and clear out the cobwebs they come back faster and thicker. I feel lost even though I’m sitting in my home with my family. Reading You Are Here and being reminded “all who wander are not lost.” Has helped me regroup and get my life back on track.
Including working and Homeschooling. I sat down this morning; I begin to watch Charlie who seemed like he couldn’t figure things out even though he knew he needed to work on schoolwork. Instead of yelling or screaming at Charlie I asked Charlie to come into the front room.
I had Charlie sit with me on the couch and I handed Charlie You Are Here and asked Charlie to read the book to me. At first Charlie fussed but I let Charlie know if he didn’t read the book to me, I was going to read the book to him, and he would have to do a report.
Before I knew what was happening Charlie and I got caught up inside the story and as we finished, I reminded Charlie it’s okay to be lost at times as long as we don’t stay lost. Once we finished the book Charlie and I discussed the Artwork and the colors they used and how calming the pictures are.
Charlie let me know we should share You Are Here with my nieces and nephews. Then once they finish reading our copy, we should take the book to the Elementary School Charlie used to attend and share the book with the teachers and librarian so they can add this book to their list of must have books.
You are here, and from here there are so many places you can go. But how will you know how to get there? In this warm and wise debut, Zach Manbeck gives readers a poetic roadmap to help us find our way in the world, while also reminding us of all that right now, we are here – exactly where we are meant to be. Both sweet and uplifting, this is a perfect book for a new baby, a new graduate, or anyone who could use a reminder that “all who wander are not lost.”
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
