I would like to bring you a review for the children’s book Wild Zoo Train written by Carmela Lavigna Cole and illustrated by Steve Gray. I received a copy of Wild Zoo Train in exchange for this review.
When Wild Zoo Train first arrived I had thought about giving the book to my nephew Jason because Jason loves Animals as much as Charlie and I do. Not only that I wasn’t sure Charlie would like Wild Zoo Train.
I was afraid Charlie would think this children’s book would be too young for Charlie. Once we sat down and read Wild Zoo Train together Charlie let me know he would read the book again by himself which showed me the book was a hit.
I asked Charlie what he liked about Wild Zoo Train and Charlie said he liked being told the noises the train makes. As well as all the animals they would see while on the trip. Charlie also enjoyed the different places they visited while on the Train. Charlie also said he liked the story line/ plot because parts of Wild Zoo Train used rhyming words which were funny.
I also enjoyed Wild Zoo Train story line and I knew my nephew Jason would also enjoy Wild Zoo Train as well as his sister Lily. I’ve decided to keep Wild Zoo Train to add to Charlies Homeschool library. I can see us using Wild Zoo Train in our Homeschooling class to look up the different places mentioned in the story. Not only that but Charlie and I can study the animals he hadn’t heard of.
I was even able to put together a spelling list from Wild Zoo Train for Charlie to use next week. We found words like Adelie and Paras that Charlie wasn’t sure what was. Or how to say or even how to spell these words. Which also led to a Vocabulary lesson. All in all I can see Wild Zoo Train being used in many different ways not only in our Homeschool classroom but yours as well.
Charlie and I enjoyed the illustrations and we’ve been discussing Art projects we would like to do based on Wild Zoo Train. As well as things to act out in our drama class. As we were discussing the different places they visited I let Charlie know we could look up foods they served and prepare the dishes in our Homeschool Cooking class.

A Zoo train full of children takes a mysterious turn into the wilds. As each train trip becomes more wilder, two curious children observe the whimsical world around them!
Written by Carmela LaVigna Coyle, the bestselling author of the Do Princesses… series, and illustrated by Steve Gray, of There, Was a Coyote Who Swallowed A Flea fame, Wild Zoo Train takes readers on a wild, animal-filled adventure through canyons, jungles, the arctic poles, and more!
I’m married, the mother of two, a full-time writer and observer, innovative cook, collector, a bit introverted, expert putterer, party designer, art dabbler, planet helper, puppy dog affectionado, and fruit goddess, to name a few. I’m only the fruit goddess part because, “Carmela,” means goddess of fruit. And I do love fruit.
I look forward to going to work every day, driving my slippers down the stairs, steering into the kitchen for toast and fruit (told you so) before parking in my studio chair. Oh, and no matter what, I always wear pretty earrings. Every day, my adorable black doggie, Lulu, sits at my feet on a poofy pillow, or more commonly, on my lap.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
