When starting a Herb Garden

The Mommies Reviews

Now that our back patio has gotten cleaned off and there is a window in the kitchen that leads in the garden I was thinking we could plant a Herb Garden which would have been the perfect addition to our #Homeschool Classes which we all know Charlie has finished but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t plant a #garden. Would you like to help us?

I looked up and found the best herbs to plant in a garden which will vary depending on your climate and growing conditions, but some of the most popular and versatile herbs to included in your garden are below:

  • Basil: A classic herb that is perfect for adding flavor to Italian dishes, basil is also a good source of vitamins A and C.
  • Chives: These mild-flavored herbs are a great addition to salads, soups, and sauces.
  • Cilantro: Also known as coriander, this herb has a bright, citrusy flavor that is perfect for Mexican and Asian cuisine.
  • Dill: This herb has a sweet, licorice flavor that is perfect for pickling, soups, and fish dishes.
  • Oregano: This flavorful herb is a staple in Italian cuisine and can also be used to make pesto.
  • Rosemary: This woody herb has a strong, piney flavor that is perfect for roasted meats and vegetables.
  • Sage: This herb has a warm, earthy flavor that is perfect for stuffing, poultry, and soups.
  • Thyme: This herb has a subtle, minty flavor that is perfect for chicken, fish, and vegetables.

These are just a few of the many herbs that you can grow in your garden. With a little planning, you can create a beautiful and flavorful herb garden that will provide you with fresh herbs all season long.

Here are some additional tips for starting a herb garden:

  • Choose a location that gets full sun. Most herbs need at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
  • Prepare the soil by amending it with compost or other organic matter.
  • Plant the herbs according to their spacing requirements.
  • Water the herbs regularly, especially during hot weather.
  • Fertilize the herbs every few weeks with a balanced fertilizer.
  • Harvest the herbs regularly to encourage new growth.
  • Protect the herbs from pests and diseases.

With a little care and attention, you can easily grow a beautiful and productive herb garden. If you already have a Herb Garden share a picture of your garden below because I can use all the help I can get. I’m beginning to learn I don’t have a #greenthumb like I thought I did.

Thank you,
