I have a question for you the other day I was helping Charlie with his homework. Charlie kept laying his finger down on the paper. I asked Charlie what he was doing and Charlie says he was making sure to leave a space in between the words. My question for you is when children are writing how do they put A space between there words?
In 3rd grade Charlie’s teacher has said he can’t use his fingers for spacers. Which has caused Charlie to get into a lot of trouble with his handwriting. Now, before you say speak to the teacher about it and let them know this is how Charlie has been taught. I did and Charlies teacher says using his fingers causes Charlie to be a slow writer.
Which isn’t the case Charlie has Dyslexia and it takes him longer to process what the teacher is asking them to do. As well as figuring out how to spell the words they expect Charlie to write. Charlie’s teacher let me know handwriting wasn’t addressed in Charlie’s 501C. Being his teacher she can’t make allowances for Charlie. Which I don’t want the teachers to make allowances I just want them to allow Charlie to learn and get things done the best way he can.
I would like to invite you to check out Inspired Empowering Different where I found Two-Finger Spacers which our children can use when handwriting. Although I am afraid Charlie’s teachers will not allow him to use them in school. I can make sure he uses them at home to help him get used to writing the correct way and not need Two Finger Spacers at school. Because I am tired of Charlie bringing home a U in Handwriting when it isn’t his fault.
I may even give David and I Two Finger Spacers because if Charlie sees us using this handy handwriting tool it will make Charlie more apt to use Two Finger Spacers as well. or God forbid if Charlie loses his Two Finger Spacers I will have extra’s he can use and not have to purchase more.
