Charlie and I enjoyed seeing the cover of What Goes On Inside A Beaver Pond which reminds me of a Forest with a nice calming pond that Charlie and I would like to dive into. Look closely and you will see Ducks and a Deer. Along with Birds and the Beave making his home. Wouldn’t you like to help him because Charlie and I would like to.
Charlie and I learned about Pleasant Valey Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in what is now known as Lenox, Massachusetts which Charlie and I can study in our Homeschool Classes for States. Would you like to join us in our studies? Along with the Mohican Naton for our studies on Indians.
I love how the Author includes notes we can use to further our studies since the book is written for children up to 10 years of age. There were facts neither Charlie nor I knew but enjoyed learning about as well as words we can use in our Spelling Test this week. The book begins in early April. and takes us to what happens after 4 Wintery months. We learn about Spring awakening seeing more of the Beaver.
Throughout the Spring and in a heavy rainstorm which Charlie and I would like to avoid. How about you? Look at the Starry Night in May isn’t it pretty? Now it’s Sunrise. Look it’s mid morning what do you have planned for the day? You should check out What Goes On Inside A Beaver Pond? to find out what the Beaver has done.
Evening and I bet the Beaver is tired. Watch out it is getting dark. Did you see the Beaver has traveled all night? Look there is an Raccoon and facts about him which is a new animal to add to our studies this year. Its late afternoon now, and Summer. I love how the Author takes us through different seasons and days.
What Goes On Inside A Beaver Pond? look at the trail in the pond which allows us to follow the Beavers trail. Now, there is a Grizzly Bear which Charlie would like to take a Field Trip to our local Zoo to see up close. Would you like to come with us? Look at the Winter scene with snow and a Fox. Isn’t it pretty.
In the back of the book the author has left us questions we can answer and research in our Homeschool Language Arts Class. It looks like there is a Field Trip to the Library in our future. Would you like to go with us? In the book is a guide showing us what animals is in the book and ask us to find them. Would you like to help Charlie and I?
About:
Dive into the fascinating world of Beavers—the swimmers, builders, and engineers of the animal kingdom!
What Goes on inside a Beaver Pond? takes kids ages 8 to 10 on a journey through a year in the life of a young Beaver (called a “kit”). This is an exciting year as the young Beaver leaves her family lodge and moves throughout the Yokun Brook Waterways, seeking a new home for herself. Throughout the seasons, vibrant illustrations and descriptions reveal the hidden inner-workings of a Beaver lodge, how Beavers fell trees with their teeth and create a wetland habitat, how they collect food and ward off predators, and what daily life is like within a Beaver colony.
Educational side panels enhance the story with details about beaver behavior and anatomy, as well as information about what other animal inhabitants of the pond are up to throughout the year. Author Becky Cushing Gop is an environmental educator and director of Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary where the story takes place. Nature illustrator Carrie Shryock’s lively and charming graphics bring the young Beaver’s story to life for nature-curious kids.
Thank you,
