I decided to put it in Gods hands and continue working this morning by going through emails when I came upon the prompts for this mornings post. Even though I knew I needed to post this morning I wasn’t ready. After reading today’s prompts, I couldn’t wrap my head around the Ultimate Blog Challenge. I cheated and went and crawled onto the couch with my blanket and pillow as it was very early.
Here I sit again trying to write the post for the Ultimate Blog Challenge and no, I am still not ready, but by placing things in Gods hands I know he will help me decide what I would like to say. So this mornings prompt is to:
Write about a time you took a trip. What was the journey of business? Pleasure? What are your ‘necessities’ when you travel? Do you have to have something with you when you visit (for me, I always bring a Bluetooth speaker, I can play music in my hotel room!)
My family hasn’t traveled in years until this Summer, and we have taken a couple day trips and an overnight trip to my dads. The things I had to make sure I took were my pillow as I can’t sleep without it. A extra blanket as I get cold and no, one else does and I have a special one I like to take on trips. My tablet to play games on and my phone to take pictures with. Then a book or two as I read while David drives and if I don’t have a book I take a stack of magazines.
I take snacks and lots and lots and lots of water. Charlie says I don’t want to run out and have to purchase some in a gas station as they can be outrageous. I also make sure everyone who is going with me even on a day trip bring a change of clothes as you just do not know what might or might not happen. Then a notebook and pen for anything I find I want to share on the blog when I return home.
Now my question for you is what is your must you have on a trip and why?
#BlogBoost and @UltimateBlogChallenge
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
Good tips, Glenda!
I like to plan in advance to make sure I have everything but not too many clothes
and enjoy and let go what life can bring you along the way!
Have a good one,
I agree as everywhere we go there are stores and if we need something
we can pick it up at one of them. Which I have had to do in the past.
As I’m reading your blog, we are on our trip to upstate NY move my 99 year old mother in law to independent living and then celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. It’s more of a work vacation but excited to get mom moved. I already had my today’s blog planned so didn’t write about me trip. But you can be sure I’ll be flooding my blog with details next week! I love John Denver’s song!
I can’t wait to read about your adventure and being able to help
her mom was a Blessing. Be safe, have fun and take lots and lots
of pictures.
It’s been a long time from the last trip we had as a family. I will always bring something to keep me warm like a jacket or a shawl aside from the other necessities, of course.
Yes, I agree a Jacket or Shawl is a necessity as well.
Have a wonderful week.
I, of course, take my computer. (OK, not MY real computer, but a backup device that lacks any data. Right before the trip, I upload all salient data to our own secure site in the cloud. [You are welcome to use a service; I don’t trust any of them to keep my data secure.])
Then, I travel for business and pleasure, keeping up with what’s necessary – including work that has long-term deadlines. (Yes, even on vacation. But, if on vacation, I won’t work more than 1 hour a day.)
That is a wonderful ideal to download the things on your computer
and I will remember this the next time I travel.
I like bringing my portable yoga mat…and a dog 🙂
I never thought of a Yoga Mat but it would be good especially with
a child as it would help keep him busy and also help him get in
some exercise and run out his Energy. As for a dog I bring mine
when I can get hubby to let me.
Hi Glenda,
I take a lot of the same things you do. No pillow or blanket though.
My camera is usually the most important after a change of clothes.
I usually have to fly to get to the starting point on my vacation so the amount of stuff I can take is determined by the airlines. That is a good thing because the airports are getting bigger and it is farther to drag all that stuff. Many of my vacations are longer than two weeks, so I have to do laundry while away. I pack for about 7 days.
Blog on!
I will blog on and you amaze me with all of your traveling and yes, Airports
are big and spread out so taking a lot would be hard. Although I can share
a tip about me with you and it that I wouldn’t get on a Airplane for no,
amount of money as they scare me to death and my husband works for our
Airport.
Great list of things to take with you.
Have a blessed day.
