A lot of schools will be getting out in the next couple weeks for Summer. At the end of school when Charlie was in public school I always threw him a end of year party and invited all the children from the neighborhood. Now that Charlie is homeschooled and goes year-round with his friends getting out of school, I’ve been thinking I would still host a party and Charlie and I would take 2 weeks off to rest and recharge.
Here are a few ideas of way to celebrate the last day of School Would you like to join us?
- Host a End of Year a Party. Invite your child’s friends over for a Pool Party, Barbecue, or Pizza party. You can also have a movie night or game night. Or have everyone bring Nerf Guns and host a Nerf Party.
- Take your children on an outing. To the zoo, park, or the beach. How about a bowling party and you can sign your children up for free bowling her at KidsBowlFree.com, to the movies, or to a museum.
- Help your child do something creative. Like making a craft, painting a picture, or writing a story. Go to a dance class or take a music lesson.
- Spend time together. Have your family go on a walk, or play a game together. Or how about just relaxing and talking. Take this time to connect with your child and enjoy their company.
- Celebrate their accomplishments. Make a list of your child’s accomplishments from the school year. Then write them a letter or poem letting them know how proud of them you are. Hang the letter or poem in there room for them to always see and remember your words to them.
- Plan for the Summer. Find Summer activities you and your family can attend. Plan a vacation which could include a staycation at home. Find a Summer Camp for your child to attend. Look into new hobbies you can do as a family. This will help your child get excited about the Summer ahead.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, the last day of school is a special time to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Make the last day of School a day to remember! Even stopping for a snack before or after school can be fun. Or make there favorite food for dinner. I plan on making Homemade Popsicles for Charlie.
