I would like to share with you a new novel I received which you will find inside this years Christmas Gift Guide. The new novel is called Vote Her In and is published by Rebecca Sive. I received a copy of Vote Her In for a review but the thoughts in this review will be mine and my families no, one else.
As a Homeschool Family we can teach anything we wish in our classroom so I have been toying with teaching Charlie about the Election and Politics. As I figure out if I want to move forward with those lesson plans, I decided to talk to Charlie about his feelings on us having a WOMEN for President.
Once we finish talking I will be sharing Vote Her In with Charlie and having Charlie read this new novel to me. Because no, matter what his opinion of a women in office is Vote Her In can help him with any candidate he may chose. If Charlie was old enough to vote. Once Charlie and I finish reading Vote Her In I plan on sharing Vote Her In with my husband David. As I can’t wait to see what he thinks about Vote Her In.
As for me personally I don’t discuss politics on the blog so I will not share with you my thoughts on a women becoming President. Because I don’t want to turn this post into a debate. What I will say is if you have nothing nice to say about Vote Her In is to please keep it to yourself. Because everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
An inspirational, practical guide on why we need to elect the first Madam President in 2020 with action items all of us can take to help get us there.
Men are not the enemy, but they are the problem.
Women are wildly underrepresented at every level of the US government: federal, state, and local. Research has shown that women in legislative and executive political positions are far more likely than men to commit to policies that benefit women and girls of all kinds, so after centuries of underrepresentation, it’s clear: our best bet for creating a system that is more fair, balanced, and just for everyone is electing our first Madam President.
Donald Trump’s election didn’t mean defeat, and his policies targeting women have not silenced them. Instead, women across the country have been motivated to speak out louder than ever before. There is no more powerful example of this than the Women’s March of 2017—held just one day after Trump’s inauguration—which was a worldwide catalyst for ongoing change and a vehicle for systemic empowerment that hasn’t stopped since.
Vote Her In is organized around the inspirational messages seen in protest signs carried at those record-breaking marches. Part One outlines the case for why we need to mobilize now, and Part Two provides a clear strategy for how to get there, with 13 tractable actions that women from all backgrounds can take to help get each other (or themselves) into executive political offices and work toward electing our first woman president in 2020.
In Vote Her In, author Rebecca Sive has leveraged her decades of political experience to give practical guidance, not just to women seeking political office themselves, but to all women—regardless of their prior exposure to political outreach and activism—who have come together to take action in the wake of Trump’s election. This crucial book empowers every American man, woman, and girl who cares about our nation’s democratic future to join forces and harness their collective power in the run-up to 2020 and, at last, to form a more perfect union.
It’s easy to feel angry, but much harder to do something about it. Sive shows us how.
