Virtual Field Trip Virtually Hawaii
I love sharing tidbits about not only about myself but also my daughter Suzzane. You see Suzzie and I had three dreams including places we would like to have traveled. They were on the top of our Bucket List. The first was to drive Route 66 as far as our money would take us. Then we would turn around and drive home. Stopping along the way checking out the small towns and restaurants.
The second place Suzzie and I had talked about visiting was Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. I could see where Elvis lived. While touring the City and walking around just enjoying the sites and sounds. We wanted to drive so we could stop and explore along the way and just enjoy each others company.
The last place we wanted to visit was Hawaii and Suzzane and I wanted to sit on the Ocean and admire the water. We planned on sitting on the bank and letting a Cabina boy bring us beverages. We would never have to leave the water. Once we got tired of the Ocean which I can’t see happening we wanted to visit the location where Elvis filmed the movie Blue Hawaii.
Although none of that happened the Lord called Suzzie home before we could take a trip together. I could still go on the trips in her memory although I don’t want to go without Suzzie. Then this morning Charlie and I decided to go on a virtual tour where we can visit Virtually Hawaii. We would like to invite you to come and join us.
Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision)
Hawaii became the 50th state on August 21, 1959. Visit the islands online with this virtual field trip.
After reading the introduction, select the island to visit by clicking on one of the images on the left hand side of the page. Through images and text tour the islands of:
- Oahu
- Big Island
- Maui
- Kahoolawe
- Molokai
- Kauai
Each island has a choice of tours available – some use clickable maps to reach a destination, others have downloadable movies of aerial views. When the tour opens, read through the text and click on the images for larger views. When finished with these tours, select the “Go to VH Home Page” and locate the “NEW radar images” in the right hand upper paragraph to see radar images of the islands.
We did find that this site appears to be an older website that may not be maintained and a few of the links did not work, but there is still plenty of great information and images available making it worth a look-see.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
