Valentines Day Gift Guide 25: Tiger! By Kirsten Miller (Review)

I would like to share a children’s book from Pow! Kids Books which you will find inside our Valentines Day Gift Guide 25: Tiger! written by Kirsten Miller Illustrated by Amada Clayton in exchange for a review. Then check out the Presse Release for Tiger here: Inside this post is my affiliate links. If you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage off the items you purchase.

Charlie and I enjoyed seeing the hand-made college illustrations. Charlie also enjoyed learning the Cat’s name is Mc Sassy. I liked learning the main character Saira is a lot like the Nature documentary she was watching. Charlie discovered the story he was as well because Charlie likes splashing around in the Water. I do as well. How about you?

David thought it was funny that Saira doesn’t like forks which is instrumental in eating a lot of foods. If you like Tigers, then you should listen to Saira roar. If your children are like Charlie they will want to see if they can roar like a Tigger. Make sure you have earphones close by because you will need them.

Charlie let me know Saira shirt reminded him of Halloween and this book would be fun to read during Halloween but I think this book would make a wonderful back to school gift for upper elementary children returning to school. Adults will enjoy the story just as much as children did. Charlie thought is was sad that the kids laughed at Saira but after discussing why with Charlie he understood why and didn’t think the children were mean.

Charlie and I enjoyed learning about Tiger facts shared by Saira including “she’s QUEEN of the forest”. Adults didn’t like hearing Saira Tiger voice which could be heard for miles away which if you’re in trouble or need help Charlie said could come in handy. But once again grab your earphones because like me you may end up with a headache.

You should see what happens on the bus which my family isn’t going to tell you or what Saira does in her home because Charlie believes you should pick up your own copy of Tiger! and invite all the children you know over for story time and for snacks. Here is fun tip for you. During snack time you could serve Animal Cookies ie Crackers and Milk or Sandwiches cut in the shape of Tigers.

About:

After watching a nature documentary, a young girl believes she is part tiger, unleashing a new identity on friends and family.

After watching a nature documentary, Saira comes to believe that she is part tiger, a fact she is not at all ashamed to reveal to friends and family. When the children at school tell her she’s wrong, she roars at them. At home she slinks from room to room, hunting and protecting her territory. Getting her fed and into bed is a challenge for mom until she reveals a shocking truth. She’s a tiger, too! Every page is colorful, eye-popping collage, carefully handmade and capturing both the wild and sweet side of our tigress.

Kirsten Miller and Amanda Clayton grew up wild in the same mountain town. Now a New York Times bestselling author, Kirsten lives in New York, where she’s written over a dozen middle grade and YA novels. Working with Amanda on their first picture book, TIGER! was pure joy!

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
