I thought I would share a new children’s book from Usborne Books with everyone. The book is called My First Word Book. This is a book Charlie can read on his own I think.
Charlie struggles the the way he does with reading I figured we could use this book in our reading class. Charlie could sit down and read the words and go over them with David who doesn’t read at all.
Once Charlie e knows all the words in My First Word Book we can use this book for art class because Charlie can draw the pictures inside the book to hang on our schoolroom wall.
We can use the book for spelling by choosing words from inside the book. Charlie can learn to spell these words and use them in sentences I have him write out.
I’m sure there will be quite a few words Charlie doesn’t know how to spell and when he learns them he can teach his dad how to spell the words he learned.
As you teach homeschool never think something might not be right for your children. If you think outside the box you will be able to find ways for them to use the items = you thought might be wrong for them. Just as I did with Usborne My First Word Book.
You can go over shapes and coloring and also math as well when using My First Word Book. If nothing else the book is something for Charlie to read to his cousins.
All children should read every day and even if a book seems to easy I bet you they would learn something and you might as well. If you just sit and listen to them.
Or the book could lead to a discussion and your students could turn that into a report. Or even a search on the computer because books will open up a whole new world if you just keep your eyes and ears open.
Which is what I plan on doing when Charlie and I sit down to read during our Homeschool reading class using My First Word Book. I hope you will as well.
My First Word Book is a book you can purchase from Usborne. If you host a party you can get books for free and they have a wish list so the kids can pick out the books they would like and you know what to get them. Or you could start your own business.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
