Sewing Machine Day– June 13th and September 10th

Sewing Machine Day celebrates a very important invention the sewing machine. Did you know the first sewing machines were made in France in the 1830s. It wasn’t until 1846, that sewing machines were patented in the U.S. What a great invention. Prior to the sewing machine creation, clothes items were sewn together by hand stitch by stitch.

People who know how to use a sewing machine are dwindling in number. Our mothers and grandmothers had a sewing machine in the house and they used the sewing machine making clothes for the family and sometimes as a job. Look around your house. Do you have a sewing machine? Chance are, the answers is no.

If you have a sewing machine, enjoy today making things using the sewing machine. If not, consider picking up sewing as a hobby.

The History and Origin of Sewing Machine Day:

There remains mystery around the date for this holiday. Almost all documentation on the internet suggests that June 13th is the date for Sewing Machine Day. We found no information why this date was selected. We did find an occasional reference to September 10th as the day for this holiday. This is the date that the sewing machine was patented. We also found a single reference to “New Sewing Machine Day” on March 1st.

Swap Ideas Day– always observed on September 10th

Swap Ideas Day on September 10th is a day that encourages us to share and trade ideas and concepts. According to the creator of Swap Ideas Day, one key goal is to encourage people to think about ways their ideas can be used to benefit humanity. As you fully participate in this holiday, we think you will get plenty of good ideas to put to use in your everyday life. Some of your ideas are so good, that you will want to pass them along to others. Better still, trade ideas with them.

Sharing is good and ideas are a good thing, too. Putting the two together should produce a real winner of a day.

I’ve got an idea of how to celebrate Swap Ideas Day let’s trade ideas with each other!!

Swap Ideas Day is another holiday that is easy to celebrate but, first, you have to come up with an idea or two.

With a few ideas in mind, find someone who also has a few ideas or join a think tank and trade ideas among the group.

History and Origin of Swap Ideas Day

This holiday event was created by Robert L. Birch of Pun Corp and this holiday burst onto the holiday calendars around 2015.

Some internet websites incorrectly identify this holiday as a “National” day. Robert Birch established it as “Swap Ideas Day”.
