Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: October 29th, 2021. Were celebrating National Candy Corn Day and also Mischief Night. My family plans on sitting both of these celebrations out as we do not care for Candy Corn and Mischief Day can lead to someone getting hurt or getting into trouble. I would like to ask you a question. Do you plan on celebrating either Holiday?
National Candy Corn Day Holiday is always celebrated on October 30th.
National Candy Corn Day is today and we believe you should enjoy a handful of this sweet Fall treat. What perfect timing. National Candy Corn Day comes just a day before Halloween. That means you can eat plenty of Candy Corn, before you go out Trick or Treating.
Candy Corn is enjoyed all year long. Place Candy Corn in a candy dish any time of the year. Then watch the candy disappear. The vast majority of Candy Corn is consumed during the Fall months, with Halloween and Thanksgiving being the biggest times to eat Candy Corn.
Candy Corn Trivia:
- Candy Corn was originally called “Chicken Feed”. Aren’t you glad they changed the name!?

History and Origin of National Candy Corn Day:
Our research didn’t find the creator, or the origin of this Holiday. Aside from Ecard companies and Calendar websites, there is little reference to this Holiday and we didn’t find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” Holiday. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.
Always October 30th
Mischief Night is today, or tonight! An evening when people traditionally participated in harmless (please) mischief. We stress harmless or innocent mischief. Other forms of mischief can lead to big trouble. Even seemingly harmless mischief can be the source of problems.
This night is discouraged by law enforcement organizations. The mischief is sometimes less than funny, and can even lead to vandalism or destructive.
My family doesn’t encourage, nor endorse participation in this day. Why risk getting in trouble??
Common forms of mischief has included:
- Soaping windows
- Egging houses and cars
- Tossing a few rotten tomatoes
- Toilet papering houses.
- Knocking on doors, then running away
History and Origin of Mischief Night:
Mischief Night appears to have roots in England back to the Nineteenth Century. Some documentation and readings has Mischief Night occurring on Halloween night. Other, references, has this Holiday on the 30th.
Thank you,
