Good morning, Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: October, 2021: Computer Learning Month. I don’t know about you but I sure could use a Computer Class and Computer Learning Month is the perfect month to sign Charlie and I up for a class. As well as David who couldn’t use a Computer to save his life.
Computers occupy almost every part of our lives, from Smartphones we spend our days communicating on, to Laptops and Desktops that are the foundation of every business. It wasn’t so long ago that the idea of using a Computer for… honestly just about any purpose… wasn’t a ludicrous or novel concept.
Now we use Computers for everything, and people expect their businesses and their customers to be keeping up with the technological bleeding edge. Computer Learning Month is for those who have difficulty working with computers, or just need a refresher to learn what Computers can do for us.
Computer Learning Month was established to encourage those who aren’t familiar with computers for reasons ranging from a lack of opportunity to just being part of a past generation to get in and learn what computers can do for them. Local libraries often have classes that are offered to the community for free. Teaching us how to use basic internet usage and how to get the most out of programs like Microsoft Word.
Computers are deeply involved in everything these days, including paying your bills and schedule appointments, and look up information on anything from local events to gardening. Every year hundreds of people are getting the opportunity to up their game with free classes on Computers. It’s important not to get left behind, as Computers are only becoming more and more important. Did you know people are even making the migration to having computers actually placed in and on them.
What’s more, the newest cars are coming with computers and GPS systems built in to take advantage of the technological network that surrounds us each and every day. Isn’t it time we move into the modern age?
How to celebrate Computer Learning Month
There’s a few ways to celebrate Computer Learning Month, starting with the opportunity to enroll in classes to build on your skills. Even if you’re already a technological master, there’s always something new you can learn to help enhance your ability to interact with modern digital age.
If you’re just a beginner, check in with your local library and take advantage of the classes they’ll be offering for people just like you. Better knowledge of computing can enable you to stay in touch with friends, and even network with people who enjoy the hobbies you do, Computer Learning Month gives you the opportunity to build your skills.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
