The Mommies Reviews

Good evening, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: November 17th, 2021. Today is Great American Smokeout Day and as the parents of SMOKERS who ended up with Emphysema I would like to ask you if you smoke to please quit.

Great American Smokeout  – third Thursday in November

Great American Smokeout Day is today if you smoke then I would like to help you finally kick the habit.

The goal of this Holiday is quite obvious. To get people to quit smoking. Resulting in fewer health problems, and less Cancer and Emphysema deaths resulting from smoking or secondary smoke.

Quitting smoking is not an easy task. As the child of ex-smokers, this writer knows how hard it is to quit smoking. Usually it takes repeated efforts which is okay, as long as you keep trying until you finally succeed. The health benefits, and the prospect of a longer life are crystal clear.

The American Cancer Society encourages all smokers to give up the “butt” today and you can join millions of other Americans today and take a big step to a happier, healthier, longer life.

Origin of Great American Smokeout Day:

The American Cancer Society created this Holiday back in 1977 and they have promoted the Great American Smokeout annually since then. Hopefully, someday, this Holiday will no longer be needed.

Occult Day

Occult Day is a mysterious day. Outside the realm of the normal and natural world.

Concealed, secret, hidden, mysterious, un-natural. These are all words to describe the world of Occult. Astrology should come to mind. Alchemy, too. Many secret groups are occults.

How do you partake and enjoy Occult Day? Join or start a secret society. Get out the Ouija board or visit an Astrologer. Have your palm read.

Origin of Occult Day:

We did not find any information on who created Occult Day, or when this Holiday was first celebrated. In true keeping with what an Occult is, the origins of this Holiday remains a mystery.

Thank you,
