Are you feeling tense and edgy? Do you have trouble on the job? Have the kids got you frazzled? Maybe the upcoming holidays are causing you to freak out a little bit. Okay, the holidays have you more than “a little bit” tense. The stress of the upcoming holidays is certainly enough to get anyone freaked out. All that tension, that worry, and stress are not good for anyone. Today is Loosen Up Lighten Up Day. This November 14th holiday has come at a good time. You can use Loosen Up Day (LULU) to do exactly what this holiday was created for to loosen up and to lighten up.
Stress and tension can come from an amazing array of things. Including something small that just sets you off. Or, some sort of problem that you are facing or anything in between. Today is the perfect opportunity to spend some time mentally identifying the stressors that are currently in your life. Only after you have identified them, can you take steps to eliminate those stressors. A big way to loosen up and lighten up is to increase your sense of happiness. Think about things that make you happy and focus on them. Surround yourself with upbeat, happy people, that will elevate your happiness and lighten up your day.
Remember Mom’s Sage Advice
Remember what mom told you when went through trying times: “God will never give you more than you can handle”. Mom’s right. Use Loosen Up Lighten Up Day to help you live a happier longer life. Undoubtedly, no one wants tension or stress in their lives which leads to unhappiness. Tension and stress can cause health issues, too. Including high blood pressure, and strokes, and even give you a heart attack. We can’t think of anything good about tension or stress.
Consequently, one quickly realizes there is plenty we can do to make the best of Loosen Up Day (LULU. First, don’t take life and events so seriously. Then, take a two-prong attack of eliminating stressors. At the same time, adding things and people that make you happier.
Bobby McFerrin is right on as he sings in his song “Don’t worry be happy”. That is the attitude to strive for today.
Tips to De-Stress on Loosen Up Day
- Relax in a hot tub.
- Take a hike to enjoy the Autumn leaves.
- Pour yourself a glass of Wine.
- Visit a Spa for a massage.
- Seek positive thinking friends.
- Take the day off of work.
- Avoid people who you don’t like, or rub you the wrong way.
- Listen to uplifting music.
- Don’t worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow take care of itself.
- Do Yoga.
- Check into meditation.
- Do something that makes you happy.

Operating Room Nurse Day, honors those important nurses, who care for patients before, during, and immediately after surgery. It’s a very important role, during a period when a patient’s comfort and life are in another person’s hands.
Types of Operating Room Nurses
- Scrub Nurses’ hand tools, equipment, and supplies to the surgeon.
- Circulating Nurse monitors the overall environment and ensures a sterile environment.
- RN First Assistants actively assist in the surgery. Helps control bleeding and suture wounds.
