Good evening, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: May 11th, 2022. I would like to ask you to take a look at the Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which Holiday you most want to celebrate and why. David said for him it’s Eat What You Want Day and he would like Chinese Food or Pizza from Mama’s Pizza. What about you. What would you like and why?
I would like to ask you a question what would you like to have to eat today? Health permitting, go ahead and have all of your favorite foods and snacks. Today is Eat What You Want Day.
Eat What You Want Day is definitely not a day for diets, and it is one single, solitary day in the year to go off your diet and eat something you enjoy, Today, you can set aside your dietary “No-No” list and you can splurge. Tomorrow, it’s back to the diet but it is important to note that today is not intended to eat as much as you want. The goal is to eat something you otherwise wouldn’t have. If you’re watching carbs or calories, simply keep within your limits by eating just a small amount of your favorite treat.
People with allergies and/or medical conditions, may not be able to fully participate in Holiday. Simply said: Do not risk your health to participate in Eat What You Want day.

National Receptionist Day the second Wednesday in May
Don’t confuse this holiday for Administrative Professionals Day or Secretary’s Day. Receptionists, this is your holiday! Maybe it’s not a day off but, it’s a day to recognize and appreciate all the things that you do!
The purpose of Receptionists Day is two-fold. First, of all Receptionists Day gives recognition to receptionists. After all, Receptionists Day are the first person your customers see when they walk through the door of your company. The first impression is molded in large part thanks to your smiling, cheerful receptionist.
The second reason for Receptionist Day is to promote pride and professionalism in the position.
On this holiday, treat your receptionist with flowers, candy, or lunch!
There is also a “Receptionist Week which is celebrated the Second week of May.
History and Origin of Receptionist Day
Our extensive research on this holiday came up with little substantial information around the history or origin of this day. We only discovered one site with any real content about the holiday. This was at the National Receptionist Association. We did find this holiday listed on countless Ecard websites.
We found an occasional reference to “National” Receptionist Day. However, we could find no information or government record to suggest National Receptionist Day was voted by the U.S. Congress as a true “National” holiday.
School Nurses Day the Wednesday during Nurse’s Week
School Nurses Day is observed on the Wednesday during National Nurses Week in May every year and takes place on May 11th this year. School Nurses Day is a day when we come together as a nation to honor the field of school nursing. This holiday honors the daily efforts of school nurses to ensure all students’ wellbeing, safety, and academic ability.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL SCHOOL NURSE DAY
On October 1st, 1902, the first school nurse, Linda Richards, was employed to prevent absenteeism by consulting with kids and families regarding healthcare requirements related to infectious diseases.
Linda Richards led the adoption of evidence-based nursing practice across the City after a month of effective nursing operations in New York City schools. Since then, school nurses have continued to control infectious diseases, but their function has grown and become more diverse.
The health of a student is linked to their ability to learn. Unaddressed health care needs make it difficult for children to participate in the learning. The school nurse helps students succeed by providing healthcare to all students in the school context through examination, and follow-up. The school nurse helps children with their physical, psychological, emotional, and social health requirements as well as their academic success.
According to the National Survey of Children with Special Healthcare Needs, 11.2 million children in the United States are at risk of developing persistent physical, cognitive, Social, or emotional problems. These students may require school-based health assistance, which school nurses can provide.
National School Nurse Day has been observed since 1972 to honor school nurses and National School Nurse Day was created to raise awareness about the importance of school nurses in the educational setting.
Twilight Zone Day is mysterious, weird, surreal and perhaps a little scary. We can think of many other adjectives, but I think you get the picture. Every once in a while, you have a day like this and, today is designed to be that day.
The television shows The Twilight Zone, was created, written and narrated by Rod Serling and the show premiered on October 1, 1959. The Twilight Zone episodes were wildly popular, stretched the imagination, and captivated viewers. The Twilight Zone show aired from 1959-1964.
History and Origin of Twilight Zone Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this holiday. In researching this day, we were quite surprised to find no logical explanation for this holiday. The TV show first aired on October 1st, 1959. May 11th marks neither the birth, nor the death of Rod Serling the creator The Twilight Zone.
Thank you,
