Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Christian Season of Lent. A sign of penitence. During Lent, Christians must fast and give up things they like. The Lenten season lasts for 46 days.
On Ash Wednesday, Christians go to Mass and receive ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross which is a reminder of from “Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust”. This saying means that we came from dust, and we shall return to dust, referring to our earthly bodies, not our souls.
Old Stuff Day– always March 2nd.
When asking someone “What’s new?” or “What’s happening?”, how often do you hear “Nothing really, same old stuff”.
Well, today, is Old Stuff Day, in recognition of this all-too-common saying. It is suggestive of a boring time period, or a boring lifestyle how sad.
Old Stuff Day is not a day to do the same old stuff. Rather, it’s a time to recognize the boring nature of your daily routine and make exciting changes. Find new and different activities, and hobbies. Attend an event. Do something, different. You will be glad you did!
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
