Good morning, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: March 19th, 2022. It’s a beautiful day this morning. Charlie is outside playing to help us get the exercise we need I think once Charlie gets home, we will do the Chicken Dance. Would you like to join us not only for the Chicken Dance, but we can watch celebrate International Sports Car Racing Day.

International Sports Car Racing Day – third Saturday of month

As its name implies, International Sports Car Racing Day is a Holiday to enjoy and appreciate this sport on a global level. This Holiday is designated on the perfect day which coincides with the 12 Hours of Sebring Sports Car Endurance Race held in Sebring, Florida at the Sebring International Raceway and this is America’s oldest sports car endurance race. The race was started in 1952 on the grounds of what is now the Sebring Regional Airport.

Teams, fans and sports car owners from all over the world come to be a part of the annual event, held on the 17-turn, 3.7-mile road course. This race is the opening round of the American Le Mans Series.

If you can’t get to the raceway, watch it on television and make it a party! Put on your favorite sports car t-shirt or sweatshirt and invite your friends over to watch the race with you. Prepare snacks to enjoy during the game.

While it is clear why this Holiday was established, our research has not yet identified the creator, but the holiday appears to have started around 2013.

Let’s Laugh Day

Today is definitely not a day for “Debbie Downers”. Rather, today is a real laugher. Honest to goodness today is  Let’s Laugh Day, which is funny, Today is no joke, but it’s certainly a big laugher that’s guaranteed to tickle your innards.  

Forget about the old saying “An Apple a day keeps the doctor away”. If you want to be healthier, we encourage you to enjoy the benefits of laughter. Laugh heartily every day and many times a day. They say, “Laughter is the best medicine” and there is plenty of truth to this statement. Did you know medical studies have shown that laughter lowers the level of the stress hormone cortisol in your body, which reduces stress. Laughter lowers blood pressure increases the immune system and increases your heart rate. Laughter lightens your mood and makes you happier. Laughter is also proven to help you sleep and it takes energy to laugh, burning calories. This should be enough reasons to cause you to laugh as often as you can.  

There are all sorts of laughs. Start with a little tehee while reading the comics in the morning paper. When you pick up your cell phone and go on the internet, look for jokes on your favorite Social Media site for a few LOLs. Then, move on to the chuckles, hahas, hohos, giggles, hearty roars, and deep resonating belly laughs.

You can laugh while no one is around and there is nothing wrong with that. Laughter is best enjoyed with others. We suggest you collect an assortment of humorous jokes and share them with everyone you meet. Laughters a great way to brighten your day and those you come in contact with. If you’re not out and about today, make a few phone calls or texts to spread the laughter.

History and Origin of “Let’s Laugh Day”:

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this Holiday or any other information about its origin. The Holiday appears to have been created in 2017 or possibly a year or two earlier.

This holidays clearly began as Let’s Laugh Day somewhere around 2019 or so, and a few websites began to incorrectly call this Holiday “National” Let’s Laugh Day.

National Quilting Day – third Saturday of month

National Quilting Day celebrates quilts and those who make them. Historically quilting is a lady’s hobby, but quilting is a skill that produces warm and beautiful results.

Today is a Holiday to recognize and appreciate the quiltmakers. If you are a quiltmaker, spend a minute to recognize and appreciate that you have truly been blessed with a special skill. If you are not a quilt maker, wrap yourself into a quilt and enjoy the warmth.

History and Origin of “National Quilting Day”:

The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991 and their members passed a resolution at the 22and Annual Show in Lincoln, Nebraska, in June 1991.

This Holiday is referred to as a “National” day, but we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day.

Poultry Day

Poultry Day celebrates Chickens, Turkeys and other Birds we commonly consume. Did you know Chicken and Turkey are lower in fats, and cholesterol than other meats? Making Chicken and Turkey better for our health? Chickens also give you your breakfast eggs.

Celebrate Poultry Day with Eggs for breakfast, a Chicken Sandwich for lunch, and Fried Chicken for dinner and don’t forget to cook up Chicken Strips for the kids.

Favorite Dance: The Chicken Dance. Have you ever done the Chicken Dance because both Charlie and I have, and it was so fun we ended up laughing so hard we almost feel down from laughing?
