Camera Day

National Camera Day 2020: These Quotes by Professional Photographers Will Inspire You to Start Clicking

Camera Day is best celebrated with pictures and pictures are invaluable memories of our lives and of the world. Pictures tell stories. Memories and stories are captured by a camera.

With digital technology, using a camera has never been easier. Cameras are now built into cell phones, so you always have a camera with you, ready to record the moments of your life.

To many people, a camera is a vital tool to record important events in the family and in the world. Cameras captures the moment…..forever. They create the memories that we share and look back upon.

From the birth of a baby, to high school graduations, people take pictures at a fast click. Year after year, the camera records family Vacations, Holidays and Christmas. The camera takes pictures of good times, and occasionally bad times if you let it.

Did you know George Eastman is the “Father of Photography”? He didn’t invent photography but he made many photographic inventions, and created the mass production that brought cameras into everyday use by millions, if not billions of people.

At one point Kodak had so much of the camera and film market, that the company basically had a monopoly on the market. George Eastman’s most famous slogan “You take the picture, we do the rest.”

Celebrate Camera Day today in a memorable way. Use your digital camera and click the day away. Take time to take plenty of selfies.

For me today would have been the perfect day to get the Camera out because Charlie and I went Swimming with Bradley, my sister Debbie and my niece Jason and Lily.

You Can Make a Camera:

Did you know you can make a camera that costs nothing and its a great project for Homeschool, as a Science project, or just for fun. If you want to do this project its the “Pinhole Camera”.

A shoebox is infamous for storing pictures and the shoebox can also be converted into a camera. Take a shoebox and poke a pinhole in the middle of one end. Cover the pinhole with a piece of black tape.

In a completely dark room, place a large piece of unexposed film (Yes, you can still get film at a camera store) on the inside of the end opposite the pinhole. Re-close the cover of the shoebox. Now, take a picture in a snap!

Hug Holiday

Paul Frank on Twitter: "Happy Hug Holiday! Hug it out and tag your friends! http://t.co/29RbmwVdEn"

Hug Holiday Day encourages us to give hugs to those who need them. On this day, people go out and give hugs at Senior Citizen Centers, hospitals, and any place that will let you hug someone including a Animal Shelter because animals need love.

The focus of the Hug Holiday is upon the elderly, sick and invalid, or lonely people and anyone who needs the warmth, cheer, and love that a hug provides.

This very special day was created by the “Hugs for Health Foundation”. According to the Foundation: ” Hug Holiday is founded on the premise that hugs, friendship and volunteer support are vital components to the overall senior care plan.”

Celebrate Hug Holiday Day today by:

  • Giving hugs to those who need one
  • Joining Hugs for Heath
  • Making a donation to this or another group

International Mud Day

International Mud Day | Festival and Celebration Calendar | Early Years

As a child I remember visiting my moms mom Dorie and she would give us metal spoons and send us out into the yard to dig. We were allowed to get water and make Mud Pies which is one of my favorite memories.

I wish I had knew that today was International Mud Day because I spent the morning with Charlie and his best friend Bradley and my sister brought my niece Lily and Jason over.

After we finished Swimming we could have stopped by the Park for a Picnic which Lily has been wanting to go on. Then we could have came back to my home and made Mud Pies because Charlie and I have made them but I am not sure Bradley, Lily or Jason have ever created a Mud Pie.

With today being International Mud Day. Let’s get down and dirty and I would like to invite you over to my home to make Mud Pies with me and Charlie if I can talk him into getting dirty.

To celebrate this very special day, all you need is some water and dirt. Mix them together, and you’re ready to have some fun! Lets see who creates the biggest messiest mud pie.

International Mud Day is for everyone, both children, and the child inside of us. Set aside the electronic games and turn off the television. Set down the smart phone, along with the apps.

The purpose of this day is to help children, by bringing them back outdoors to learn about and enjoy nature, along with all it has to offer.  For Charlie and I we can do this for our Homeschool PE Class because we will be up and moving around and Exercising while building the Mud Pie.

To celebrate International Mud Day:

  • Immerse yourself and your friends in a mud pit
  • Make mud pies and/or mud sculptures
  • Go to a spa for a mud facial
  •  Organize a nature hike for children or yourself

The History and Origin of International Mud Day:

In Nepal, where International Mud Day began, the intention of the original event was to enrich the lives of 58 orphans, by getting them outdoors to enjoy the environment. After splashing in the mud, these children’s moods and attitudes were much improved.

The Holiday was first created at a World Forum in 2009, by Gillian McAuliffe from Australia, and Bishnu Bhatta from Nepal. This special day is sponsored by the World Forum Foundation.

Waffle Iron Day

Facebook

Waffle Iron Day celebrates this great kitchen gadget that makes tasty waffles. Waffles are cooked between two metal plates and a waffle iron is powered by electricity to heat the plates and create, light waffles ready for you to top with Syrup, and/or your favorite Fruits.

Waffles are not just for breakfast, they’re good for lunch or dinner, too.  Charlie likes having them as a Mid-Day Snack. How about you? When do you like Waffles and why?

The origin of the Waffle dates back to the 1300s in Greece when Greeks cooked flat cakes between two metal pans. At the time, they topped Waffles with Cheeses and Herbs. Sorry, Pancake Syrup wasn’t around back then. Can you imagine that?

You do know how to celebrate this day…….don’t you!? If you don’t have a Waffle iron, today is a good day to go out and buy one. Did you know there is Waffle and Mini-Waffle makers to choose from.
