National Corn on the Cob Day

10+ National Corn On The Cob Day Pictures

It’s National Corn on the Cob Day which is one of mine and Charlie’s favorite Vegetables. But Charlie likes Yellow Corn but I prefer White Corn. Which I used to be able to order at Red Hot & Blue BBQ but they don’t sell it anymore and I can’t find White Corn anywhere. Have you ever had White Con if so where?

Millions of people love sweet Corn on the Cob and as Summer nears, we can’t wait to bring out the Salt and Pepper, and boil, steam or grill some fresh, sweet, Corn on the cob.

National Corn on the Cob Day encourages us to celebrate and enjoy this tasty summer time treat. If you will excuse me I need to purchase groceries and I plan on picking up Corn On The Cob for dinner. Would you like to eat with us this evening?

Plainview, Minnesota celebrates National Corn on the Cob Day in a big way. They hold a Parade and other festivities. Wouldn’t it be fun to attend the events?

Did you Know? Sweet Corn originated in Mexico and it dates back to about 9,000 BC.!

Fact: Sweet Corn loses its sweetness rapidly and home gardeners know to pick the Corn just before its cooked. When buying sweet Corn at a store or Farm Market, make sure its fresh picked.

Origin of National Corn on the Cob Day:

We found it a bit odd to celebrate this special day in June because in mid June, Sweet Corn is still being planted in home gardens. In most areas, home grown sweet Corn will not be ready to harvest for several more weeks.

National Flip Flop Day – second Friday in June

National Flip Flop Day

Date When Celebrated : Second Friday in June

Summer is here. and it’s time to bear our toes to the sun. Ditch those sweaty, hard leather shoes, and even your comfortable sneakers, and slip into your flip flops. Wearing sandals is as much a Summer tradition, as baseball, hot dogs, and going to the beach. Do you wear Flip Flops because I hate them and so does Charlie and David.

Although, Suzzane loved Flip Flops and Flip Flops is all she would wear Rain, Sleet, and even Snow it was Flip Flops. For Charlie he only wears Slides.I like Sandals the most.

Speaking of the beach, where would you be without your flip flips? Leather shoes and sneakers just won’t do, when strolling on the beach, ankle deep in the surf. Easy to slip on and off, flip flops protect your feet from the blazing hot sand, as you walk across the beach in search of the perfect sunbathing spot with the gentle breeze.

Flip flops are a form of sandals did you know that? Ancient Egyptians wore sandals as far back as 4,000 B.C. So, we’ve been wearing this comfortable footwear for quite a while. Flip flops are a simple and inexpensive, so much so, that many of us have several pairs.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, the creator of this day, holds a fund raiser on today for Camp Sunshine. Customers who come into their cafe today, receive a free Sunshine Smoothie and customers are encouraged to donate to Camp Sunshine.

Participating in this special Summer holiday is easy. Wear your flip flips! But, don’t forget the real reason behind this day, and donate to a Camp Sunshine near you.

The History and Origin of National Flip Flop Day:

This special day was originally created in 2007 by Tropical Smoothie Cafe to celebrate it’s 10th anniversary and use it as an annual fund raiser for Camp Sunshine.
