International Tiger Day, has also been called World or Global Tiger Day, which celebrates Tigers, the largest Cat on the planet. Tigers are arguably the most beautiful majestic Cat on the planet. Love ’em, hate ’em, or just plain scared of Tigers, one must admit Tigers are indeed a beautiful Animal. Unfortunately, their numbers are dwindling at an alarming rate and they are an endangered species.
In 2010, at an International Tiger Summit in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the plight of Wild Tigers came into full focus. 13 Tiger range Countries were in attendance. 2010 was the Asian calendar’s “Year of the Tiger”. Over the last Century, the world-wild Tiger population dropped 97% not including Tigers in Zoos. With only an estimated 5,000 Tigers left in the wild, Tigers are on the brink of extinction. The drastic population loss was due to several factors, among them was hunting, poaching, and loss of habitat. The 13 Countries in attendance set a goal to double the number of Tigers in their Country before the next “Year of the Tiger 12 years later or 2022. These international groups also seeks to raise awareness to the plight of the Tiger, and to protect and expand their habitat. Their goals and endeavors, are a joint international effort.
For the 13 Countries that attended the 2010 summit in Russia, this is a huge day. These Countries are committed to increasing the number of Tigers in their Country. They actively pursue improving Tiger conservation and habitats. The Countries use this holiday to celebrate their success in these aims. Also, they seek to increase education and awareness.
There are many things you can do to celebrate this holiday and help this endangered species. Here are a few ideas:
- Read up about Tigers and their loss of population.
- Show your support of groups working to raise awareness and improve Tigers habitat.
- Go the Zoo and see these majestic creatures.
- Make plans to go on a Safari, to see Tigers in their native habitat.

Here is a question for you: ” What’s a Tiger running a copier called? A copycat.
Did you know America’s Favorite Tiger is Tony the Tiger, of course!

International Chicken Wing Day – July 1
National Chicken Wing Day – July 29
Two holidays to celebrate and enjoy Chicken Wings. Everyone is all for it. Let’s chow down with Wings!
Buffalo, NY is the home to the Buffalo Chicken Wing which were invented at the Anchor Bar and Grill in Buffalo, NY in 1964 by Teressa Bellisimo. Teressa Bellisimo served her creation as a late night snack for her son Dominic and his college friends which immediately became wildly popular there. The recipe spread, and the recipe rapidly became wildly popular in the United States, and ultimately world-wide.
Chicken Wing Day is a celebration of a very popular snack or appetizer but Chicken Wings are actually more than that, because people consume Chicken Wings as the main Meat course for thtere lunch or dinner meal.
The original Buffalo Chicken Wing was made by frying Wings and then tossing them in a Spicy Sauce. Blue Cheese is commonly served on the side, as many people dip the Wings into Blue Cheese to “cut” the heat of the Sauce. Since the creation of the first Buffalo Wings, many variations to the recipe have been created. Some Wings are baked, and the selection of Sauces is limited only by your imagination.
Chicken Wings are extremely popular around the World. In the U.S. over 27 billion Wings are consumed every year. Chicken Wings are most popular at Superbowl Parties. Over 1.25 billion Wings consumed during the Superbowl Game alone!
We hope that you celebrate both International Chicken Wing Day and National Chicken Wing Day.
Chicken Wing Trivia:
* Prior to the invention of Buffalo Chicken Wings, Wings were largely used as Soup Stock.
* The Anchor Bar in Buffalo sells more than 70 thousand pounds of Chicken Wings per month.
* Wing Sauces commonly come in mild, medium or hot heat. To many people, especially, the citizens of Buffalo .NY, the hotter the sauce, the tastier.
* The ideal match-up for some folks is eating Pizza with Wings.
* The peppers used to make the Hot Sauce contains the chemical Capsaicin. The more Capsaicin, the hotter the Pepper and the hotter the Sauce.
The History and Origin of Chicken Wing Day:
Much is known about National Chicken Wing Day in 1977, then Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski proclaimed July 29th to be Chicken Wing Day and a few years later, this day became “National Chicken Wing Day”.
We didn’t find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” Holiday and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.
There is little known about International Chicken Wing Day which seems to have occurred only recently, and does not have much of a following although it’s existence seems to make sense. You can’t keep a great snack from being recognized around the world with, a day to celebrate it. But, our research has not uncovered the creator of this holiday, or when the holiday was first celebrated.
National Lasagna Day is today and I hope you have a big appetite although it’s July and it’s hot and humid. Cooking up a pan of Lasagna will make the kitchen a lot hotter. As the Lasagna cooks, the smell will waft throughout the house. Your mouth will begin to water and when dinner time arrives, you will have a huge appetite for Lasagna.
Lasagna is a favorite Italian dish. In between multiple layers of Lasagna Pasta are Tomato Sauce, Cheeses, and Hamburger and/or Italian Sausage. Lasagna is the favorite Italian dish of millions of Americans. We all would eat Lasagna more often, but this culinary work of art, takes time to make and bake.
It is best to celebrate National Lasagna Day by baking the Lasagna that you will eat today. If you don’t have the time, or the Weather is just too hot, head out to your favorite Italian restaurant and order Lasagna for lunch or dinner.
Today is National Lipstick Day and there’s no shortage of lipstick colors. While red lipstick is by far the most popular color, you have your choice of just about any color in the rainbow. That’s not all, there’s glossy, flavored, glitter and many more lipstick options to choose form. Apply your favorite lipstick to those lips of yours, and plant a great big, kiss on your favorite people. Looking to attract a guy? On average, men stare at women who wear red lipstick for 7.3 seconds. Any other lipstick causes men to stare for just 2.2 seconds. Perhaps that’s why red lipstick has always been the most favorite lipstick color.
Lipstick has been in use for thousands of years, likely more than 5,000 years. Most ancient cultures used Lipstick in some form often along with face and body painting. Ancient Sumerian men and women used lipstick embedded crushed gemstones to decorate their lips and face. Lipstick use is also well recorded in ancient Greece, Egypt and China.
The most expensive lipstick is Guerlains’ KissKiss Gold and Diamond Lipstick which sells for $62,000 per tube!
The History and Origin of National Lipstick Day:
This holiday was created by Huda Kattan in 2016 an American makeup artist and beauty blogger.
We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” holiday and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.
