Good evening, how are you? Before Charlie and I head out to go swimming I wanted to share our series featuring Unique Holidays: July 14th, 2022. I would like to ask you to check out the holidays being celebrated today and let me know which holiday you most want to celebrate and why.
Bastille Day commemorates modern France and French democracy and Bastille Day is a French holiday. Although you can celebrate Bastille Day as well.
Bastille Day symbolizes the end of the Constitutional monarchy, and the beginning of the Democratic republic of France. To Frenchmen, Bastille Day is viewed as their liberation.
Did you know Bastille Day is actually called Fete de la Federation. In France, Bastille Day is a holiday that is celebrated with Military Parades.
A Little Bastille Day History:
In the late 1700s, France was ruled by a King.
On July 14th, 1789, there was an uprising against the Constitutional Monarchy, and the people stormed Bastille.
Did you know Bastille was actually a Prison, and it was a symbol of the Monarchy.
The goal was to create reconciliation for all of France, promote Unity, and purse Liberty from the Monarchy.
This ultimately led to the birth of Democracy in France.
Fete de la Federation was first held on July 14th, 1790, the first anniversary of the storming of the Prison at Bastille.
Pandemonium Day is a day of sheer bedlam, and utter chaos. If ever there was a wild and whacky, unorganized day, today is the day.
Everyone has a day like this once in while a day when all sorts of unexpected things occur. This is a time when everything is happening at the same time, and at a very fast pace.
Celebrate and embrace Pandemonium Day and don’t let today, or any other day shake you up. If Pandemonium prevails, just go with the flow in a calm, cool manner. Sanity will return soon enough.

National Macaroni and Cheese Day, which is also called National Mac and Cheese Day, is here. Doesn’t National Macaroni and Cheese Day give you a warm feeling? National Macaroni and Cheese Day brings back fond memories of childhood. Mac and Cheese has always been a childhood favorite. Macaroni and Cheese is inexpensive, easy to make, and Mac and Cheese tastes good. It’s a dish kids love which is a winning combination!
The popularity of Mac and Cheese has had a resurgence in recent years among adults. Macaroni and Cheese has popped up on restaurant menus, each with their own twist. Food Truck Rodeos are not complete without at least one Food Truck listing Mac and Cheese on their menu. New recipes books, are all but certain to have at least one Macaroni and Cheese recipe. Along with traditional Macaroni and Cheese, almost any combination of Cheeses are now used. The History and Origin of National Macaroni and Cheese Day:
Our research did not find the creator of this holiday but we suspect Kraft Foods had something to do with the holiday which first appeared in 2014.
This is not a true “National” day. because neither the U.S. Congress, nor the President of the United States has proclaimed today to be National Macaroni and Cheese Day. But they should shouldn’t they?
National Nude Day is a way to keep cool on a hot , sticky Summer day. Take it all off.
I will display no pictures of National Nude Day. But, we will talk about National Nude Day.
Here’ s the bare and naked truth about National Nude Day:
National Nude Day is a serious holiday. There are a sizable number of Nudist groups around the World. These people are not perverts. Rather, Nudists believe that the body is a beautiful thing, and meant to be displayed. Nudist Colonies, Nude Beaches, and other venues exist to cater to the preferences of individuals who seek to walk around “au natural”. Even the conservative City of Buffalo, NY gets in on the act, holding an annual Nude Bike Ride, encouraging participants to wear as little or as much as they feel comfortable with.
We will not suggest that this is right or wrong. We simply desire to make you aware of this holiday. Laugh if you will. But, please don’t put the “sleaze” into National Nude Day.
As a kid safe site, we will not include or point you towards pictures or any offensive material. Our goal is to report and document the holidays for fun purposes.
Interestingly, we found a lot of sites promoting Nude Day T-shirts. Isn’t this problematic? How can you wear a T-Shirt on National Nude Day!??
International Body Piercing Day, another form of self-expression
The History and Origin of National Nude Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this holiday and our research on this holiday suggests it originated in New Zealand.
We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” holiday and we found no Congressional records or presidential proclamation.
Shark Awareness Day is today and the real goal of this holiday, is to provide education and awareness of the importance of Sharks to the Ecosystems of our World’s Oceans.
Sharks date back 420 million years ago, much farther back than Dinosaurs, which roamed the Earth a mere 230 million years ago. Along the way, Sharks have gotten a bad reputation from movies, and from the media. Although, I have a question for you. What would the media be without media sensationalism? Which constantly provides graphic reports of Shark attacks.
While we are made to be deathly afraid of Sharks, the truth of the matter is Sharks are generally more afraid of us. And rightly so. Humans kill 100 million Sharks a year. World-wide, Sharks only cause an average of 7 deaths and 70 reported attacks a year. Did you know many Sharks are endangered species. For example, Sharks are sought for Shark Fin Soup and Shark Tooth Jewelry. We don’t mean to underplay the importance to be alert to the dangers of Sharks but wee want to make you aware of Sharks importance to the health of our Oceans.
The odds of being attacked by a Shark is 1 in 11.5 million and the odds of being struck by lightning is 1 in 600,000.
Did you know Museums around the world celebrate Shark Awareness Day by hosting Educational Awareness Programs, teaching us the importance of Sharks in maintaining a healthy balance in the Ocean Ecosystem. At the top of the Ocean food chain, Sharks help to eliminate weak and sick members of Ocean Fish species, and keep the whole system in balance.
Make sure you take the time to listen to the song Baby Shark when celebrating Sharks today.
The History and Origin of Shark Awareness Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this holiday but we suspect Museums will be holding Educational programs on Sharks, somehow led to the creation of this holiday.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
