Good morning, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: July 13th, 2021. Take a look at the Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which one you most would like to celebrate and why.
Charlie and David are most excited about Shark Awareness Day. I’m excited about National Macaroni and Cheese Day and would like to make my mom’s Homemade Macaroni and Cheese but it isn’t on my diet so that is out. To bad to sad because its so good it would make you slap your mama.
Bastille Day commemorates modern France and French democracy. Bastille Day is a French holiday. But, you can celebrate it, too.
Bastille Day symbolizes the end of the constitutional monarchy, and the beginning of the democratic republic of France. To Frenchmen, Bastille Day is viewed as their liberation.
Bastille Day is actually called Fete de la Federation and in France, it is a holiday that is celebrated with military parades.
Happy Bastille Day and “Vive la France!
A Little (but not too much) Bastille Day History:
In the late 1700s, France was ruled by a king.
On July 14, 1789, there was an uprising against the constitutional monarchy, and the people stormed Bastille.
Bastille was actually a prison, and it was a symbol of the monarchy.
The goal was to create reconciliation for all of France, promote unity, and purse liberty from the monarchy.
This uprising ultimately led to the birth of democracy in France.
Fete de la Federation was first held on July 14, 1790, the first anniversary of the storming of the prison at Bastille.
Pandemonium Day is a day of sheer bedlam, and utter chaos. If ever there was a wild and whacky, unorganized day, today it that day.
Everyone has a day like this once in while. Its a day when all sort of unexpected things occur. Its a time when everything is happening at the same time, and at a very fast pace.
Celebrate and embrace Pandemonium Day. Don’t let today, or any other day shake you up. If Pandemonium prevails, just go with the flow in a calm, cool manner. Sanity will return soon enough…..we hope. Just remember to slow down and take a Breathe if you need to walk away for a little while until you feel calmer and more in control.
National Macaroni and Cheese Day
National Macaroni and Cheese Day, also called National Mac and Cheese Day, is upon us. Doesn’t that give you a warm feeling all over? Mac and Cheese brings back fond memories of childhood, because Mac and Cheese has always been a childhood favorite. Mac and Cheese is inexpensive, and is easy to make, tastes good, and kids love it. Now, that’s a winning combination!
The popularity of Mac and Cheese has had a resurgence in recent years among adults. Macaroni and Cheese has popped up on restaurant menus, each with their own little twist.
Food Truck Rodeos are not complete without at least one Food Truck listing Mac and Cheese on their menu. New recipe books, are all but certain to have at least one Macaroni and Cheese recipe.
We’ve become creative, too. Along with traditional Macaroni and Cheese, almost any combination of Cheeses are now used. You can get Smoked Macaroni and Cheese, Fried Mac and Cheese, and a endless list of ingredients and ways to cook it.
Macaroni and Cheese has been in the recipe books for centuries. Its believed to have originated in Italy in the 14th century. The first recording of a recipe was in the 14th Century English cookbook “Forme and Cury”. Thomas Jefferson brought the recipe to America in the late 1700s.
Nowadays, we commonly associate Macaroni and Cheese with Kraft foods, who has offered it commercially since 1937. While many other companies, offer it, Kraft Foods Mac and Cheese is by far the most popular.
In 1993, Crayola Corporation named a crayon “Macaroni and Cheese”. Can you imagine that?
Whether you’re eating at home or going out to dinner tonight, make sure to have Macaroni and Cheese!
It;s National Nude Day not a day I want to celebrate. How about you? Although, were going to the Water Park this morning and I am sure some of the people may be half nude.
If I had knew National Nude Day existed when Charlie was a Toddler he would have fit in perfectly because he hated and clothes and didn’t mind running around naked outside all the time.
National Nude Day is a way to keep cool on a hot , sticky Summer day. So, take it off……take it all off. …. Sorry, we will display no pictures of National Nude Day. But, we’ll certainly talk about the Holiday.
Here’ s the bare and naked truth about National Nude Day:
National Nude Day is a serious and special day and there are a sizable number of Nudist groups around the world. They are not perverts, rather, Nudists believe that the body is a beautiful thing, and meant to be displayed.
Nudist colonies, Nude Beaches, and other venues exist to cater to the preferences of individuals who seek to walk around “au natural”. Even the conservative City of Buffalo, NY gets in on the act, holding an annual Nude Bike Ride, encouraging participants to wear as little as they want. Can you imagine that?
We will not suggest that this is right or wrong we simply desire to make you aware of all of this holiday. Snicker if you will. But, please don’t put the “sleaze” into this holiday.
Sorry, as a kid safe site, we will not include or point you towards pictures or any other offensive material. Our goal and purpose is to report and document the Holidays for fun purposes.
Interestingly, we found a lot of sites promoting Nude Day T-shirts. But, isn’t this problematic? How can you wear a T-shirt on National Nude Day!??
Electricians have to strip, to make ends meet!

International Body Piercing Day, another form of self-expression
Express yourself today, by getting a body piercing somewhere…. anywhere. Today is a great day to do so, as it is International Body Piercing Day.
I can tell you Charlie would enjoy today because he has been wanting to have his Ears pieced which isn’t going to happen if I have anything to say about it.
Before you ask yes at one time I did have my Ears pirced and they were double pierced but I am a girl not a guy and no, I am not discriminating against men I just don[‘t think its appropriate. How about you? Should men get things pierced or not?
Nowadays, body piercing are most often done as a form of self expression. Along with Tattoos, piercings set us apart, and to some degree define who we are.
Body Piercing has been around since ancient times and it was practiced in many Cultures around the world. Most notably, African and Native American tribes practiced body piercing, often for Tribal rituals, among other reasons. Even in ancient times, body piercings were performed on almost any part of the human body.
Modern body piercing in the U.S. began to gain in popularity in the mid to late 1970s. It’s popularity and acceptance continues to grow around the world.
Many people consider body piercing a form of art. Along with growth in popularity, and is a marked increase in extreme piercings, with some individuals having dozens upon dozens of piercings.
Jim Ward of California is known as the “granddaddy of modern body piercing”. He opened the first body piercing studio in California in 1978. Among his many achievements, were establishing methods of piercing, promoting body piercing education, and setting safety standards.
Celebrate International Body Piercing Day. Go out to a body piercing studio, and get a part of your body … any part…pierced!
The History and Origin of International Body Piercing Day:
Jim Ward, the “granddaddy of modern body piercing” was born on this day in 1941 and the date was selected to celebrate his many contributions to the world of body piercing.
While we know this special day was created to honor Jim Ward, and to promote body piercing, we do not know who created this day, or the year of origin.
Shark Awareness Day is today and the real goal of this day, is to provide education and awareness of the importance of sharks to the ecosystems of our world’s oceans.
Sharks date back 420 million years ago, much farther back than dDnosaurs, which roamed the earth a mere 230 million years ago. Along the way, Sharks have gotten a bad reputation from movies, ie Jaws… and from the media (what would the media be without media sensationalism!?), which constantly provides graphic reports of Shark attacks.
While we are made to be deathly afraid of Sharks, the truth of the matter is that Sharks are generally more afraid of us. And rightly so, as humans kill 100 million Sharks (of all sizes) a year.
World-wide, Sharks only cause an average of 7 deaths and 70 reported attacks a year. Many Sharks are endangered species. For example, Sharks are sought for Shark Fin sSup and Shark tooth jewelry.
We don’t mean to underplay the importance to be alert to the dangers of Sharks but, we want to make you aware of theimportance of Sharks to the health of our Oceans.
The odds of being attacked by a Shark is 1 in 11.5 million. The odds of being struck by lightning is 1 in 600,000.
Museums around the world celebrate Shark Awareness Day by holding educational awareness programs, teaching us the importance of Sharks in maintaining a healthy balance in the Ocean Ecosystem.
At the top of the Ocean food chain, Sharks help to eliminate weak and sick members of Ocean Fish species, and keep the whole system in balance.
