Today is Old Rock Day and if you’re Homeschooling like I am with Charlie then you might want to go on a #FieldTrip to look for Fossils. For us that would be the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in Fort Worth. Would you like to come with us?
Old Rock Day– Always January 7th.
Old Rock Day is an opportunity to appreciate old rocks and Fossils. if you don’t collect tocks then perhaps you can start a rock collection. Or go out on a Field Trip in search of old Fossils (the rock kind). Or, if you choose, you can play with old rocks.
There are a lot of fun-filled, wild and wacky Holidays. and Old Rock Day is one of those Holidays. There is little information available on what this Holiday was truly meant to mean. The interpretation and the means of celebration is left up to you.
By definition, Fossils are old rocks which includes Jewelry Stones and coal are old rocks, too. You can celebrate any of these old rocks today.
