Good morning, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: February: National Bird Feeding Month. I don’t know about you, but we have Bird Feeders, but we don’t use them. David puts the Bird Seed out on the ground for the Birds and Squirrels we have.
I love watching the Birds eat and we’ve had Red Birds and Blue Birds. But my favorite is the Woodpecker that stops by at times and will talk to me when I am outside. Now, I have a question for you. Do you feed Birds and if so, which Birds come to your home and eat?
National Bird Feeding Month– always held in February.
February is National Bird Feeding Month. If you feed Birds, they will come.
Everyone know Mid-Winter is a tough time for backyard Birds. Snow covers Birds food source, while at the same time food supplies are dwindling. A reliable high energy supply of Bird Seed is essential, to provide the Energy our backyard Birds need to survive the cold in February.
People of all ages participate in Bird watching or Bird feeding. One third of the U.S. adult population feeds Wild Birds in their backyards. The percentage is much higher for Seniors.
National Bird Feeding Month is supported and promoted by many National and local Bird support groups, including National Bird-Feeding Society (NBFS) and the Wild Bird Centers of America.
It is easy to participate in National Bird Feeding Month. If you haven’t hung up a Bird Feeder now is the time. Your backyard Birds will entertain you, as they feed from your feeder.
If you are new at bird watching or Bird feeding, hang the feeder in a location where it can easily be seen from the comfort of your living room or kitchen window.
