Unique Holidays: August 30th, 2022

The Mommies Reviews

Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: August 30th, 2022. Charlie was amazed today is Frankenstein Day and he can’t wait to study Frankenstein in our Homeschool Art Class and also our Reading Class. Charlie and I will be taking a Field Trip to Half Price books to find books on Frankenstein.

Frankenstein Day

Doctor Frankenstein created a living Monster from body parts of the dead. In Doctor Frankenstein’s laboratory, he made the Monster come to life. Frankenstein is the name given to the Monster, named after his creator. There are three known Frankenstein “days”. As a result, a there’s more than a little confusion. We have Frankenstein Friday, National Frankenstein Day, and Frankenstein Day. Each one of these is a Monster of a holiday. Here is a explanation on all three days. Once you learn the difference let me know which Holiday you want to celebrate. Charlie and I’ve decided to celebrate all three holidays. Would you like to join us in the celebration?

Frankenstein Day is on August 30th. This holiday is in honor of Author Mary Wollenstone Shelley who was born on August 30,1797. Mary Wollenstone Shelley wrote the book “Frankenstein “in 1818. This holiday in in honor of her birth.

Frankenstein Friday is the last Friday in October. Originally, we traced some references back to a website on Frankenberry Cereal, which suggests a commercial origin. Recently, the creator came forward and told us about this holiday that he created Frankenstein Friday.

National Frankenstein Day Google posts this as October 29th. We haven’t been able to verify that this as a true National  Holiday. Research suggests this holiday is really Frankenstein Friday.

Toasted Marshmallow Day

Eleven out of the twelve months of the year, we enjoy a wide range of holidays. When we get to August, there is a major shortage of big holidays to celebrate. Perhaps that is why many Europeans take the month of August off for vacation.

Which is just as well that there are no big holidays to compete with National Marshmallow Toasting Day. After all, how could any holiday compare with Marshmallow Toasting Day?

Enjoy today or tonight by a campfire or bonfire, toasting a Marshmallow, or two, or three. Summer would not be the same without a campfire and Toasted Marshmallows. Summer is short. Summer is good. Let’s enjoy Summer while it is still here. Toast a Marshmallow and forget about everything else.

Don’t forget to make a few S’mores.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
