These groups take advantage of this Holiday to offer people a view of the Stars through a telescope.

There is also an Astronomy Week which begins the Monday before Astronomy Day.

Kiss Your Mate Day is a perfect chance to smooch with your partner, as if you need an opportunity to share a kiss or two. With Spring in the air, April is an appropriate time for Kiss Your Mate Day.

Some people may ask “why do you need a holiday to kiss your mate?” Others say, “every day should be Kiss Your Mate Day.” Unfortunately, researchers tell us that kissing, which is an important part of romance and intimacy, is the first thing to go in a relationship. If you don’t currently kiss your mate every day, use today to re-establish kissing in your life.

Ladies and Gentlemen do we need to tell you what the tradition is for this great holiday? I didn’t think so. Get to kissing.

Here are Kiss Your Mate Day tips and rules:

  • There is no limit to the number of times you can kiss your mate today.
  • There is no limit to the number of kisses you can share today.
  • Although it is highly recommended that you limit your kisses to just one mate.
  • If you don’t have a mate, it’s alright to kiss someone who is not formally your mate.
  • You can kiss your mate wherever you want and wherever you want.
  • Giving candy or flowers is not required but, we believe that those who do give flowers or candy, will receive more kisses.

History and Origin of Kiss Your Mate Day:

Our research found no factual information about the origin of Kiss Your Mate Day and we did find this holiday on virtually every Ecard company we discovered.

While we don’t know created this day, the romantical side of us is very glad that Kiss Your Mate Day was created!

National Teach Children to Save Day – the date in April changes every year

Here is a very worthwhile cause National Teach Children to Save Day an annual event. On this day, bankers across America teach fiscal responsibility to children of all ages. The goal of this K-12 program, is to instill in children a lifetime of good financial practices and management of their money. The Holiday starts with learning not to spend every penny you get, and to save a few of those pennies for the things they want. Or for a rainy day. This financial education will help children as adults, to avoid high credit card debt and bankruptcy.

Don’t leave practical financial management education to bankers and educators. While these professionals are beneficial, kids need your teaching and insight, too. This means practicing what you preach. Kids pick up on the example you set. What you do now, children will do later in life.

History and Origin of “National Teach Children to Save Day”:

This holiday event was created in 1997 by the American Bankers Association Community Engagement Foundation.

Take Your Daughter to Work 4th Thursday

Acting on research that showed adolescent girls received less attention than boys, this Holiday was initiated in 1993 by the Ms. Foundation for Women. The intention was to give girls additional direct attention and an insight into work opportunities available to them. The Holiday was to serve the multiple purpose of increased self-esteem for young girls, giving them ideas of the wealth of careers in the world. This allowed girls more one-on-one time with mom or dad.

Take your Daughter to Work Day quickly took off and became popular. Girls would go off to work with mom or dad, or even Aunt and Uncle. The girls would spend the day seeing just what their sponsor’s job involved. The Holiday was limited only by the practicality of allowing a youthful, non-employee in a particular job environment. This holiday works well in office environments, but proves impractical in many blue collar factory jobs, where safety is an issue. Businesses usually support this Holiday, often holding special programs and demonstrations about the company and the jobs offered.

The popularity of Take Your Daughters to Work Day quickly sparked interest by the boys, who felt left out and were required to go to school for the day, while the girls “got the day off”. Over several years, more parents and employers made this opportunity available to boys as well as girls. While this takes away from the original intent to give more attention to adolescent girls, the Holiday has become a valuable and popular career day opportunity for girls and boys alike.

As this Holiday has evolved, it has taken on a number of names, including:

Take our Daughter to Work Day

Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day

Take Your Children to Work Day

Regardless of what you name the Holiday, this day is a great teaching opportunity, providing children with an insight into different careers.

Thank you,
