Don’t Fry Friday – Friday before Memorial Day
Unlike most people I think differently and when I saw that today was “Don’t Fry Day” I thought how is that going to work with “National Hamburger Day” because a lot of times Hamburgers are Fried. But that isn’t the case…
Don’t Fry Friday is a very important day for our skin. The Holiday occurs just as the Memorial Holiday begins, at the start of summer. At this time, Sunshine is the most intense.
People are seeking Sunshine and the great outdoors after a long winter. The purpose of today, is to educate people, and to make them aware of the dangers of overexposure to UVA and UVB rays. These UV rays come from the Sun, and from popular tanning booths. They’re the primary cause of Skin cancer.
Skin Cancer is very treatable and curable, if caught early. Unfortunately, early detection doesn’t always occur. If you have even the slightest suspicion, go get checked out by your doctor…. immediately.
A little Sunshine is good for you and the Sun provides important Vitamin D, and Sunshine brightens your mood. It’s over exposure to the Sun that damages your Skin, and can result in Skin Cancer.
There’s a better way to get Vitamin D, than from the Sun. It is readily available as a Vitamin supplement in pill form, usually along with Calcium.
Have a safe and happy summer and follow the motto for Skin Cancer prevention: ” Slip, Slop, Slap, and Wrap” This means slip on a shirt, slop on the suntan lotion (SPF 30 or higher), slap on a hat, and wrap on the sunglasses.
Yes, UV rays can damage your Eyes, too. In addition, it is recommended that people stay out of the Sun during midday of Summer, when these harmful UV rays are the most intense.
Over 3.5 million cases of skin Cancer non-Melanomas are diagnosed each year. And, there are over 76,000 cases of Skin Melanoma a year, most of which are preventable. Source: American Cancer Society
I just bought Hamburger Meat and Buns for Homemade Hamburgers but David works today and doesn’t have time to make me his Stuffed Bacon Cheeseburgers. So I don’t get I will get a Hamburger today. If you do take a bit for me because I really really want one.
Did you know Hamburgers are America’s favorite sandwich? What would a Memorial Day, or Fourth of July picnic be without the American Hamburger? It’s only fitting we have a special day to celebrate our cherished Burgers.
Did you know Hamburgers are American in origin? However, there is controversy as to whether Hamburgers were first created in the 19th or the 20th century. We won’t fret over when they were first created. We’ll just eat them and be thankful they were created.
Have it your way. The best way to cook a Hamburger, is grilled on an outdoor grill. Although, you can also cook Hamburgers indoors on a frying pan.
Then you add your favorite fixings. Cheese is all but a must. But not always plain Hamburgers are just as yummy. Then, there’s Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, Onions, Bacon, and many more fixings you can add to your Hamburger. Don’t forget the condiments which could be Mustard, Ketchup, Mayonnaise or Relish. Which are the favorites.
The World’s Largest Burger was created on September 2, 2012, at the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota when they cooked the world’s largest Hamburger at 2,014 pounds. That’s the equivalent of 8,056 Quarter Pounders!
Hamburgers always seem to taste best with a side order of French fries. If you would like to celebrate Fries then you should check out National French Fries Day.
I have a question for you did you know? May is National Hamburger Month because I didn’t but that tells me why Suzzie was born in this month because Hamburgers was here favorite dish.
If you prefer Hit Dog to Hamburgers then you will want to check out: National Hot Dog Day
Here is a fun quote to share with your friends: “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today”. Wimpy on the cartoons series “Popeye”.
Do you remember watching Popeye as a child? Because I do and even Suzzane and my nephew David would watch it at times. Along with Charlie even though he doesn’t like to admit it. Do you children watch this Cartoon? Or are they to cool to watch it like Charlie?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
