History and Origin of International Museum Day:
This holiday was established in 1977 by the International Council of Museums.
No Dirty Dishes Day is a reprieve from the pile of dishes waiting to be washed and dryed. Day after day, we do the daily chore of washing and drying dishes, then putting them away. We perform this task after each and every meal, and often snacks. Even putting the dishes in and out of the dishwasher and running it, can be a chore.
You deserve a break from this routine andnd, today is that day. The objective of this holiday is to have no dirty dishes and it is not intended to pile the dishes up until tomorrow.
We can think of two ways to avoid dirty dishes today:
- Use disposable plates, cups and silverware.
- Take the family out to eat.
We strongly recommend that you do not pile up the dishes to do tomorrow because this defeats the purpose of this holiday.
History and Origin of No Dirty Dishes Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this holiday and there is no doubt in this Author’s mind that a teenager dreamed up this holiday to get out of his or her dishwashing duty.
Visit Your Relatives Day encourages us to visit our relatives. The holiday is intended to give us the opportunity to get closer to our relatives, and to build or re-build relationships.
It’s easy to get out of touch with loved ones because we lead busy lives. A visit with the relative, is sometimes relegated to Christmas or a few other major holidays.
If you can not visit your relatives today, we suggest you call them and/or send them a card. Both snail mail and online cards will do.
If you don’t get to visit your mother-in-law today, you will have another chance on Mother-In-Law Day.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
