Good morning, How are you this beautiful Saturday? How is your weekend going? Do you have anything fun planned to do? As for us we will just be hanging out at the house with my dad who is visiting. Although since I am finally feeling better I am hoping we will be able to visit the pool on Monday so I can walk. Although if it doesn’t happen that is okay as well as that just means it wasn’t God’s will.
Now, I would like to share this morning’s prompt with you for the Ultimate Blog Challenge “What has changed in what you are doing today vs 1 year, or 3 years, or 5 years, or maybe even 10 years ago?”
I will chose how things have changed for me in 10 years. As that would have been October 7th, 2007. WOW, time flies is all I can say. Because I would have been pregnant with Charlie. As he wasn’t born until December 16th, 2007. David and I would have still been living in our apartment and I wasn’t allowed to work as the doctor had me on partial bed rest.
I spent most of my time at home although in the evenings David and I would go out and walk so I could get some exercise. I was working on Charlie’s Nursery and Les was living with us part time. David was still working at Klassmayer in Lewisville as a yard hand. David and I was married for just over a year and half as we had gotten married in May, 2006.
I hadn’t even thought of working online or a blog nor did I know what one was. As I was too busy getting ready for the arrival of Charlie and helping with my nephew and David’s son Travis. We ended up moving from a upstairs apartment in November to a downstairs apartment so it would be easier on me when Charlie was born.
Once Charlie arrived I spend the first year just being his mom which I also was Blessed to be able to do with Suzzane. Just like when Suzzane was born I planned on returning to work when Charlie was a year old. Although I was blessed and on Charlie’s Birthday David let me know I could stay home another year. I was so happy as I didn’t want to leave Charlie.
During that year I decided to find something to do online so I researched Direct Sales as I had sold Tea in the past but nothing caught my eye. Until I stumbled on a friend and Sherry was talking about Blogging and the items she received for reviews and giveaways. The more I thought about the more I wanted to try it.
So on Aug. 28, 2008 I launched my first blog even though I didn’t know what I was doing. I built it and found a mentor that helped me grow and get the site the way I wanted. Then we wrote a lot of post and I built my followers and when I was ready to contact clients for items to review I was actually received yeses.
I was off and on my way. Charlie is now going to turn 10 in December and I am still blogging and I do run a Direct Sales company I help others do what I do. All because I love it and because my family believes in me. There has been times when I thought about throwing in the towel but I keep plugging along with David and Charlie’s support.
Each year on Charlie’s Birthday David and I sit down and talk about the blog, our finances and what we want to happen the next year. We discuss if I should go back to work or not and each year the blog has grown and helped with bills and Christmas so David always says lets give it one more year and see what happens.
So, all I can say is Thank you, Jesus as you know my needs before I do and you have allowed me to stay at home with my son doing what I love and I couldn’t be happier or prouder of what Charlie, David and I have accomplished. I know if my heart that we will continue blogging for another year as Charlie enters 5th grade.
As for what happens after that it is in God’s hands as Charlie will be in Middle School and could stay by himself and if David is ready for me to close the blog completely or even go part time and get a job I will as he has allowed me to live my dream for 10 years and be a full time mom.

Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
What an awesome story! It looks like you set out with a plan and then moved forward without even knowing what you were going to do next. That is great!
A good coach is always helpful – extra props to you for getting the assistance you needed.
You are doing great things… and I am sure it will continue!
Be Well.
Paul.
Thinking back, did the 10 years seem to go by fast Glenda? I bit it’s hard to imagine your “precious baby” is going to be 10 already!
I’ve also enjoyed blogging as a stay-at-home mom. I wonder sometimes what the future will hold, but ,like you, I will take it one year at a time. I used to homeschool my son, but now both of my children are in public school. I would love to make money writing, but my blog isn’t even monetized, lol! I have bigger projects and ideas in the future, but it’s been great just putting myself out there.
