Ultimate Blog Challenge April 2018 Day 11

A catchup post for the Ultimate Blog Challenge for April 2018 Day 11. As I work hard to catch up, I am sitting here waiting for David to come home from work. I was blessed this morning when he said he would take me out to dinner. We have decided to go to the Texas Raodhouse which Charlie enjoys a lot.

I was going through this mornings email I wanted to share today’s prompt with you.

What’s the best dessert you’ve ever eaten?

If you’re a cook, share a photo of it on your blog! And share the recipe, too.

You could take this idea and talk about your favorite restaurant, cooking show, or something food related.

Or, you could go for allegory (a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one). Then and talk about what the “icing on the cake” is for you in a particular experience, like the best customer service you’ve received, the best gift you’ve purchased or received, etc.

If you don’t think this applies to you, try this: blog about the last time you had your favorite dessert? What do you like it? Get personal in this blog post. People LOVE to connect when you share the personal side of you!

I sat here this morning deciding what my favorite dessert was I noticed how our lives entwine from the past to now. Because for me I love Italian Cream Cake and it was what my first husband and I had as our Wedding Cake. Then once David and I meet I ordered a slice of a restaurant and David loved it as much as I did. Italian Cream Cake is one of David’s favorite desserts as well.

But if you were to ask me what Charlie’s favorite dessert is I would have to say it is the Cookie Monster you purchase at Cheddars and there is a lot of history behind this restaurant. The first time I had this dessert was when I went to Six Flags with my best friend from Elementary school with her son and my daughter.

Once Suzzane and I tried out the Cookie Monster it became our favorite dessert, and we always went and purchased it for each of our Birthdays. Once she passed away, I wasn’t sure I would ever eat another Cookie Monster. Although David and I started dating and I took him to Cheddars for dinner, and we ordered a Cookie Monster, and David loved it as much as I did.

Once David and I were married I took both Travis and Leslie, and we all had dinner and purchased a Cookie Monster and it because our to go to restaurant for Birthday Dinners. Anytime they come to visit, and I can take them out to dinner we end up at Cheddars so we can order a Cookie Monster.

Now, I have Charlie, and at least once a month he asks to have lunch at Cheddars so we can order a Cookie Monster as he loves it as much as I do. I can’t wait to be able to go next month for Mother’s Day and to celebrate Suzzane’s Birthday because even though she isn’t here doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate her Birthday.

Now that I have a nephew and a niece and a grandson it is time to start a new tradition, and all of us have dinner at Cheddars so we can all have a Cookie Monster as none of them had one. So I think this would be the perfect way to not only celebrate Sunnane’s Birthday but my sisters as well as it is May 4th.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
