Turning your back porch into a home gym

The Mommies Reviews

It’s official this month will be a year we’ve lived in the apartment. I was so excited when we moved in and found out we had a front porch, back porch and also a balcony. Then the back porch became a place for storing things. I never got the Bistro table I wanted to be able to sit out on the back porch to read.

With Charlie wanting to work out more I’ve decided I don’t need a bistro table unless I put it on the upstairs balcony/ Charlie needs a place to work out. I’ve decided to turn our back porch into a home gym because Charlie doesn’t want to go into a gym to work out. Which is fine with me because having the home gym will also savce us money on membership fees and here we can work out anytime we want.

In our homeschool Classes this week Charlie will be compiling a wish list for his gym ie man cave and then for Charlie’s Birthday and Christmas, I’m going to set up a wish list of items he wants through Amazon. By doing this it will allow Charlie to have his own space and he can invite his friends over to work out.

  1. Plan your space. Before you start buying any equipment, take some time to plan out how you want to use your space. Consider the size of your porch, the type of equipment you want to use, and how much natural light you have. Once you have a plan, you can start making a shopping list.
  2. Choose the right equipment. There are a variety of different pieces of equipment that you can use in a home gym, so it’s important to choose the right ones for your needs. If you’re just starting out, you may want to focus on basic equipment like weights, dumbbells, and a yoga mat. As you get more advanced, you can add more specialized equipment like a treadmill or elliptical machine.
  3. Make it comfortable. Your home gym should be a place where you enjoy working out, so make sure it’s comfortable. Add some workout music, a fan, or a comfortable chair to make your workouts more enjoyable.
  4. Get organized. It’s important to keep your home gym organized so that you can find the equipment you need when you need it. Invest in some storage bins or shelves to keep your equipment tidy.
  5. Make it a habit. The key to sticking with any fitness routine is to make it a habit. Try to work out at the same time each day, and make sure your home gym is set up so that you can easily get in a workout.

Here are some additional tips for turning your back porch into a home gym:

  • Consider adding a security system. If you’re going to be using your home gym at night or when you’re not home, it’s a good idea to add a security system to deter burglars.
  • Make sure your porch is weatherproof. If you live in an area with extreme weather conditions, you’ll need to make sure your porch is weatherproof so that your equipment doesn’t get damaged.
  • Get creative with your space. If your porch is small, you can still create a functional home gym by using creative storage solutions and multi-purpose equipment.
  • Have fun! Working out should be enjoyable, so make sure you have fun with your home gym. Put on some music, dance around, and make your workouts a part of your daily routine.

Thank you,
