The other day Charlie’s grandfather came by the house and asked if Charlie was home. Because he needed Charlie to help him with a project. I said Charlie was and I would bring him down in a little bit.
I came back inside and asked Charlie to get dressed because his grandfather needed his help. I thought Charlie might fuss about having to go down there but he didn’t.
Charlie got dressed and we walked down to his grandparents home. Once we got there his grandfather let Charlie know that he was going to be cutting trees down and Charlie was to pick up the trees and put them into the back of the trailer.
Val which is Charlie’s nephew was done there to help as well. The boys begin and I started to help a little as well. Once all the trees was picked up and the street was cleaned we started to come home.
Before we left Charlie’s grandfather gave Charlie $5 which I was grateful for but that was a lot of work and worth more than $5. Once we got home and David came in from work.
I set down and talked to David about it and showed David the trailer and we gave Charlie $10 not to undermine his grandfather but to show Charlie that a hard days work brings in good money if you do a good job.
I have a question for you do you think $5 was fair pay for all the boys did? Or do you think they should have gotten more? If so what do you think they should have been paid and why?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
