This is a YA story but I would like to let parents know in the story there is a pregnant teenager and implications of sex and abuse but it’s still fairly clean and with parents permission teens should be able to read this book. It’s part of a series and I do plan on reading the rest of the books even though I don’t like Ghost stories but the magic drew me in.

Vega Bloodmire is part ghoul, and this is a problem, because the supernatural world disapproves of ghouls, necromancy and any kind of blood or death magic. Forced to become vegan to avoid manifesting any of her ghoulish attributes, Vega is trying to complete her internship as a student teacher. Her fulfilling her obligations are complicated by a perverted supervising instructor, who has decided to block Vega’s successful completion.

When this teacher is graphically murdered, Vega has to find the real killer to avoid being falsely accused of the crime. Vega Bloodmire has secrets that can’t ever be revealed. As a student teacher she loves what she does and has to prove herself to her parents .Her supervising teacher is murdered and Vega is on a mission to prove her innocence and reveal the true killer. The murder murdered two people trying to cover up his secrets and he tried to frame the wrong student teacher and she exposed him for what he was.

About the book:

Witches, ghouls, and mind readers—oh my! Murder and mystery abound in this supernatural novel.

Vega Bloodmire has no problem with the label “villainous witch,” though she draws the line at being called a self-centered hag. Life isn’t easy being twenty-two, drop-dead gorgeous, and the most fashionable witch in all the land—especially while working as an intern teacher at a magical boarding school.

Just when Vega thinks she has student teaching figured out, she is framed for murder. Worse yet, she fears she might have revealed her darkest secret—one so awful she will be shunned by Witchkin society even if she can prove her innocence.

Vega needs to find the true culprit behind this crime in order to save her reputation—and her life.

Enjoy this spin-off series from the world of Womby’s School for Wayward Witches. This book starts with Vega Bloodmire’s life before working at Womby’s when she was a new and inexperienced teacher at Encantado Charter Academy. It is the first book in the series of stand-alone novels. These mysteries are meant to be read in any order.

Clean, cozy, no sex or swearing, PG 13—perfectly fine for teens or grandmas who like paranormal mysteries at magical boarding academies.

Meet the Author: Sarina Dorie

Tooth fairies and bogeymen, Puritans and aliens, and robots in love with toasters. Welcome to my worlds.

As a child, Sarina Dorie dreamed of being an astronaut/archaeologist/fashion designer/illustrator/writer. After years of dedication and hard work, most of Sarina’s dreams have come true; in addition to teaching art, she is an author/copywriter/artist/fashion designer/belly dancer. She has taught English overseas in South Korea and in the JET program in Japan, where she felt like an alien much of the time which inspired numerous stories. She has shown her art internationally and sold illustrations to magazines and currently works as a high school art teacher.

Sarina Dorie has sold over 150 short stories to markets like Analog, Daily Science Fiction, Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Orson Scott Card’s IGMS, Cosmos, and Abyss and Apex. Her stories and published novels have won humor and Romance Writer of America awards. She has sold three novels to publishers: Silent Moon, Dawn of the Morning Star and Wrath of the Tooth Fairy. Her steampunk romance series, The Memory Thief and her collections, Fairies, Robots and Unicorns–Oh My! and Ghosts, Werewolves and Zombies–Oh My! are available on Amazon, along with her series, WOMBY’S SCHOOL FOR WAYWARD WITCHES.

A few of her favorite things include: gluten-free brownies (not necessarily glutton-free), Star Trek, steampunk aesthetics, fairies, Severus Snape, Captain Jack Sparrow and Mr. Darcy. By day, Sarina is a public school art teacher, artist, belly dance performer and instructor, copy editor, fashion designer, event organizer and probably a few other things. By night, she writes. As you might imagine, this leaves little time for sleep.

Now, if only Jack Sparrow asks her to marry him, all her dreams will come true.
