Brighter Light Brigade is a new group, and this is their first single, featuring Amyliza de Jesus, Marla Vannucci and Dean Jones. Fans may download and stream the song on Amazon and Apple Music, Stream the song HERE.
A social worker and songwriter, Amyliza is known for her work with Little Miss Ann, performing as “Amy D” on the acclaimed 2017 album Keep On? (Their “Ube Ube” and “the Senses Song” continue to be favorites). Amy D. moved to Nashville, had a baby, and continues to write and perform her own songs. Her newest project is to collaborate with other creators under the banner of Brighter Light Brigade.
Amyliza co-wrote “Kindness Is King” with Mavis Staples in mind, with a Chicago artist named Marla Vannucci. Amyliza and Marla began their songwriting partnership a few years ago. They’ve performed together at the Old Town School of Folk Music and other venerable Chicago venues. Dr. Vannucci is a psychologist with a practice in the Loop.
The two artists asked Grammy winner Dean Jones (of Dog on Fleas fame) to produce their original song, keeping Staples’ signature soulful R&B style in mind. With No Parking Studio in the Hudson River Valley, and he also performs on this track. I would be happy to send a download of the song, and to introduce you to Amy, Marla and Dean.
