I would like to introduce you to a new children’s book called Three Paws and the Secret Cave by Karen Struck.
I always read any books I want Charlie to read before I have Charlie read them encase Charlie has questions about the books he is reading. Which I am glad I did with Three Paws and the Secret Cave because by the end of the book I was fighting tears.
I wanted to prepare Charlie for the loss of one of the Animals and to discuss how the other Animals felt because we just lost our Dog which is still bothering Charlie.
But reading Three Paws and the Secret Cave we’ve come to peace with Sandi’s passing and have even reprinted the poem in the back of the book out to share with anyone who loses someone they love.
Charlie and I’ve even discovered Animals which we can study in Homeschooling as well as Death and Grief which we all face at one time or another.
Children’s book author Karen Struck loves writing stories that make kids smile, but also learn valuable lessons. In her latest release in the Three Paws series, Three Paws and the Secret Cave from [Page Publishing, Spring 2021, 978-1662407499] she isn’t shying away from a tough yet valuable lesson everyone encounters at some point: including losing a loved one.
Three Paws and the Secret Cave jumps right back into the lives of Boots, the three-legged Grizzly bear and his wild group of friends as they go on adventures in the Alaskan wilderness.
Boots and his friends have had many great times together over the years, but now are faced with an inevitable part of life. Cappy, the elderly Mountain Goat, is nearing the end of his physical journey on earth.
His granddaughter, Scarlet, is very close to him. But when he leaves the Goat herd, without an explanation, Scarlet is frantic to uncover the mystery behind his disappearance.
Young Scarlet leads her wilderness friends in a Celebration of Life as she and her friends honor her beloved grandfather. Join Scarlet, Boots, Chinook, Sockeye, Pepe, Cyrus and Blizzard as they trek along the rugged mountaintop in search of Cappy and the secret cave.
Karen Stuck is a registered nurse, who had the opportunity to work in a Nursing Home as well as Hospitals in Oncology, Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
She has dealt with transitioning from life to death on multiple occasions and all ages,” Struck says. “ I hope The Secret Cave helps little ones understand that the death experience is a tough but natural part of the human experience. And, by understanding that, it can inspire us to live more fully, each and every day while we can, celebrating our lives and the lives of others along the way.”
