There are quite a few new movies out this week which I know we would like to see as well as plan for October. Because Charlie doesn’t want to go Trick Or Treating we will be seeing a movie and I thought you might like to know what is playing this October at Alamo DraftHouse.
The first movie I would like to share with you is Wolfman’s Got Nards which isn’t a movie I would see. I believe Charlie and David might like to watch this film.
Where were you when you learnedWOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS? Star of THE MONSTER SQUADAndré Gower is coming to Alamo Drafthouse to showcase his new documentary WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS, a loving tribute to THE MONSTER SQUAD and its legion of fans.
When it was released in 1987, THE MONSTER SQUAD was a critical and box office failure, but decades of word of mouth eventually turned it into a cult phenomenon.
Through interviews with the cast, crew, filmmakers, academics, celebrities, original reviewers, and everyday fans, as well as through never-before-seen footage, WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS turns the lens on an audience of self-proclaimed misfits who have kept THE MONSTER SQUAD alive for more than thirty years.
Holy Crap. Dick is dead. Died last night after band practice, and his bandmates, Zeke and Earl (Michael Abbott Jr. and Andre Hyland), don’t want anybody finding out how.
That’s too bad though, ‘cause news travels fast in small-town Alabama, and these guys suck at covering their tracks. The authorities haven’t ID’d the body just yet, but Zeke’s wife (Virginia Newcomb) and his daughter are suspicious already.
From a screenplay by Billy Chew, director Daniel Scheinert (one half of the SWISS ARMY MAN duo known as Daniels) expertly balances the hilarity and heartache of what happens when dark secrets are dragged kicking and screaming into the light.
Live Q&A with Special Guests In Person with the The Ultimate WILLY WONKA Party. I can tell you if David knew about this he would have already purchased tickets.
But I haven’t meantioned the movie to Charlie or David because I want to get tickets and surpsise David because of all the nice things he does for Charlie and I and he loves Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the Ompa Loompas.
You can bet your bottom dollar you will not find me inside this festival because I don’t watch Horror movies of any kind and if I didn’t I wouldn’t sleep.
But I bet if I shared this event with David and Charlie they might like to go and I could even see my niece Alyssa and her best friend Juanita attending the event.
JUDY is one movie I have been waiting to come out as I can’t wait to watch this film. I just don’t think Charlie will like it to much nor, would he want to see it.
David would with me and he might actually end up liking the movie that is if he doesn’t fall asleep. I guess I should see if my sister or my best friend would see Judy with me instead of David.
DOWNTON ABBEY is a movie David has said he would like to see which surprised me. I think before we see DOWNTON ABBEY I think we should watch the TV show so we would know what is happening.
When I was growing up I was in love with Sylvester Stallone and never missed one of his films including Rambo and Rocky. David and Charlie are just like me and they both want to see RAMBO: LAST BLOOD.
I’m thinking I might let Charlie and David go out to lunch and to see RAMBO: LAST BLOOD. I will watch Hustlers so they can have guy time with no, women then I will rent RAMBO: LAST BLOOD from Redbox once it comes out on DVD.
I’m so excited because JOKER Opens October 4th. I grew up watching Batman and Robin with David and Suzzane. Then with Charlie when he arrived along with David.
I can’t wait to watch Joker because most people like Batman or Robin but my favorite characters are Penguin and Joker. I don’t think I could chose between the two. I have a question for you out of those two who do you like the most and why?
A UNIQUELY DARK LOOK AT AN ICONIC VILLAIN.
You know the story.
Dark alley. String of pearls. Orphaned child. Dark Knight. But what if we viewed everything leading up to the creation of Batman from a totally different angle?
For eighty years the Joker has provided a twisted counterpoint to Batman, testing both the Caped Crusader and Gotham City’s values and convictions in ways both silly and sinister.
In JOKER, director and screenwriter Todd Phillips and lead actor Joaquin Phoenix have given one of the most (in)famous characters in all of fiction his own creation myth, a critique in its own way to Batman’s well-worn origin story.
Don’t expect a movie about the Clown Prince of Crime. JOKER is the story of a man called Arthur Fleck… an impoverished, forgotten, and desperately lonely man that’s struggling at his job as a clown-for-hire. Struggling to be a comedian. Struggling to care for his elderly mother. Struggling with a mental illness that causes him to laugh uncontrollably.
And all around him, ‘80s-era Gotham City struggles – with growing poverty, rampant crime, and an increasing resentment toward Gotham’s wealthy elite, most prominently represented by Thomas Wayne.
It’s in this powder keg of a setting that fate, a faltering social safety net, and Arthur’s crumbling psyche collide to send Arthur – and Gotham – down a dark, irrevocable path.
Anchored by Phoenix’s wiry, disturbing portrayal of a man left behind by society and set in a grimy, realistic version of Gotham City, JOKER isn’t like any comic book movie you’ve ever seen – inspired by Martin Scorsese’s TAXI DRIVER and THE KING OF COMEDY, it synthesizes elements of both films (most especially a delightful turn as a late-night host by Robert De Niro) into something original and deeply terrifying.
It’s R-rated, and for good reason. Leave the kids at home, they won’t like it anyway – there’s no Batman to be found. Part character study, part social commentary, part crime epic, JOKER is an unflinching look at the man who becomes the Clown Prince of Crime, and it’s one of the best comic-book-based movies ever made.
WEDDINGS ARE COMPLICATED. SO ARE WICKED FAIRY GODMOTHERS.
Prince Phillip and Queen Aurora have just got engaged, and everyone in the kingdom is rejoicing. Everyone except, of course, Aurora’s wicked fairy godmother Maleficent, who can’t stand the idea of Phillip’s mother gathering Aurora up as her own.
Family ties get complicated when weddings are involved, and Maleficent once more turns her magic against the kingdom – and Aurora’s mother-in-law to be – in order to prevent nuptial disaster.
Everyone’s favorite Disney villainess returns in MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL. Angelina Jolie returns to the character she turned into an unlikely antihero, joined by fellow returnees Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville, and new cast additions Chiwetel Ejiofor (THE LION KING), Ed Skrein (ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL), and Michelle Pfeiffer (ANT-MAN AND THE WASP), and she’s brought all her delicious villainy to the party.
MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL brings all the original’s clever fairytale twists and sinister magic back to the screen. With a top-notch cast and huge-scale visual effects, this sequel pits the armies of the kingdom and the magic of the Moors against each other, escalating to all-out war. Mothers-in-law can be like that.
