One of them is the N word. Which is NIGGER!! I know I am so sorry I typed it. But last night I was able to take Charlie and Bradley to the park to play after the movie was over. While there our neighbors was playing. So I thought it would be OK for me to walk. But “BOY OH BOY” was I wrong.
As I started my 2nd lap around the park Bradley come up and says Charlie has hurt his leg and is bleeding and one of the boys is calling me names. So I ask Bradley what they called him and he says a “NIGGER”. No mind you Charlie and Bradley are both white. Not that that matters.
What matters is Charlie and Bradley both do not know what that word means. Nor, have they ever used it. So I just tell Charlie and Bradley to come on we are going home. As I refuse to stay in a park where there is no parents and the kids are running wild and calling people names.
So we get home and Leslie comes to pick up Bradley and I let her know what happens. So we wait outside my home until the young man comes walking up. As we see him we also see his mom and dad and we let them know what happened. They ask the kids who did it. And of course none of them would admit who it was.
But while we are talking to the parents the kids are singing a song and just keep repeating the N word. While the parents listen in. Then they say we will take care of it. But I do not think they will. So as we walk away Leslie says next time it happens I am going to call the police. But I do not think they can do anything.
So what would you do??
Does your children no the “N” word and what it means? Do you or your children use it? If your children have what di you do about it?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David
never used it never will kids have never heard that word and hopefully they never will.
I NEVER use that word and a few others. I also NEVER allow my kids to say it. I have told them how degrading it is and how bad of a word it is. The problem is that many of BOTH my kids friends not only use it (some are black) they use it towards each other as if it was a word like cool!! BUT, my kids understand that it is NOT a word we use. ~KM
