The Real World (Hugo the Happy Starfish – Island Adventures)

The Mommies Reviews

Guess Who’s Joined Our Holiday Gifts Guide. Suzy Lieberann and her children’s books. This is part of the                   Hugo the Happy Starfish series which I will be sharing with. You all know Suzy Libermann is one of mine and Charlies favorite children’s Authors so being able to review The Real World along with all the others has made this a truly remarkable Christmas.

The Real World (Hugo the Happy Starfish - Island Adventures - Educational Children's Book Collection 14) by [Suzy Liebermann]

Hugo The Happy Starfish and the Real World book covers curiosity. Which I was glad to find out as Charlie has so much curiosity and  I should be able to bottle all the curiosity Charlie has and sell it to people who have none. Although if truth be none I am the save way at times. I just don’t like to admit it.

Charlie  isn’t afraid of anything and will try things that I would never even think of doing. Although Davi  is the same way Charlie is. Like father like son. When I was able to sit down and read The Real World with Charlie we were able to learn why being curious is a good thing. But we were also able to discuss how being curious can get you in trouble and how it can also cause you to get hurt.

Charlie says The Real World  is one of his favorite Hugo books as it is full of Pirates and with The Real World we made a play out of it. Charlie and I acted out  the different parts in the book. We even put the play on for his Aunt who enjoyed the story as much as Charlie and I did. If only we could have gotten David to join us in the play because it would have made the perfect Family Night.

Charlie even showed his grandmother Sherry The Real World book and Granny Sherry let us know The Real World would make nice gifts for the kids in our family. So I wouldn’t  be surprised if this isn’t what she gives out as Easter gifts this year. Or even for Christmas as she knows how important teaching a child to read is.

I asked Charlie if he thought The Real World was for boys or girls and he said The Real World is for both. I also asked what he thought of the pictures and he loved them. Charlie told me the colors popped and that it had some of his favorite colors. Charlie liked the hearts on the boat. I asked him if he would like to draw a picture of  the boat and Charlie did and he loved making the picture and made up a new Hugo story which we were able to share with my family.

Product Description

Come on a sea adventure with HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH as he finds out that HAPPINESS begins with CURIOSITY.

THE REAL WORLD (THE ISLAND OF CURIOSITY) contains a great educational lesson about the value of curiosity.
On the ISLAND OF CURIOSITY Hugo and his friends are captured by a pirate, who wants to take away their happiness and their curiosity.
The little starfish fires up his imagination and manages to convince the pirate to become their friend.

Hugo is a little starfish whose home is at the bottom of the wide ocean. He longs to visit the real world, and one day he decides to go and find it. Hugo’s journey to happiness isn’t quite as straightforward as he hopes though. He is sent to a series of different islands where he is taught important character lessons. By the end of his journey, Hugo has visited fourteen islands, made many more friends, and, most importantly, learned how to be a better starfish.

‘HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH – ISLAND ADVENTURES’ is packed with life lessons for kids, showing them the importance of appreciation, patience, tolerance and optimism amongst others.

Teaching children life skills can be tricky, but with this exciting book your kids will come across some of the most important lessons there are to be learned. Like Hugo, their journey to the real world will be full of character lessons along the way.

In Hugo, children, parents, and educators will discover a lovable and engaging role model with whom they can identify.

The story consists of 29 gorgeous illustrations showing a colorful and magical underwater world.

Children will laugh at the delightful characters, hold their breaths in suspense and love to read this story over and over.

The book is suitable as a read aloud book for preschoolers or a self-read book for older children.

The book comes with a number of worksheets which are downloadable at no cost on our website.
The book is offered in two editions (a version with Spanish introductory vocabulary and an English only version) as well as in different languages such as German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.

Suzy Liebermann

A native of Germany and former resident of the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Islands of the Bahamas and Switzerland, Suzy Liebermann—now living in the USA—has traveled the world in pursuit of language, art, and culture.

Having found it, she now shares it with the world’s teachers, parents, and children through educational literature. Leveraging her decades of global experience teaching in German, Spanish, French, and English with a degree in foreign language translation and a master’s degree in business management and international business, she launched Happy Language Kids Publications in 2010 as an interactive language learning program for children and their young-at-heart elders.

This program is particularly aligned with the aims and values she upheld as a teacher of cultural art and foreign language at a prestigious International Baccalaureate World School.

Character Development for Children

Believing that happiness can be learned, feelings can be understood and that building character based on a positive attitude leads to happy, content, self-confident and successful human beings, I have created this exciting series of charming books about HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH.

The series of books on character education aims to help educate children about their feelings, their attitude, their choices and the consequences that follow and includes an introduction to the Spanish language, lessons of character, ecological alertness and life skills—all amid a backdrop of a colourful island and mystical underwater world.

I have always had a love for teaching and helping others. Being able to share the wisdom of the right attitude through my stories gave my life a new goal to make a difference in the world.

Today I live my dream of helping others to find the right attitude for life – because life gets so much easier with the right attitude. We might not be able to control life’s circumstances or other people’s actions however we can control our attitude towards them.

With lots of LOVE and HAPPINESS,

Suzy Liebermann
