Good morning, more and more people are eating Plant Based Diets which my family hasn’t tried. Have you? Which is why I am excited to bring you The Plant-Based Diabetes Cookbook: 125+ Nourishing Recipes to Satisfy Every Taste Bud by Jackie Newgent RDN CDN (Author) that I received a copy of in exchange for this review.
Diabetes scares the beejeebies out of me. I know you might be wondering why and its because more and more of David’s family including his parents and his brother Mike are Diabetics. Then you throw in my dad and my nephew Uncle and Grandmother along with Suzzane’s Biological dad and you can see with this many people having diabetics that someone in my immediate family may end up with Diabetics.
Before you say Charlie is a child and it can’t happen to him yes it can. My ex-husband Everett was diagnosed as a Diabetic when he was 4 years old. With Charlie turning 16 next week its time to change our Diet and get Charlie used to eating healthy so when he moves out he keeps it up Which is why I’m excited to share The Plant-Based Cookbook with David and Charlie.
Inside the cookbook is 125+ Nourishing Recipes to Satisfy Taste Buds in everyone we know. I love how the author helps up get started in a plant-based diet by giving us tips we can all use. The Author explains what carbs are and Diabetes which Charlie and I can use in our homeschool Home Economics Health Class.
I love how she helps us stock our pantry so we have the right foods to prepare all the recipes in the cookbook. No, you don’t have to take out a loan to restock your pantry just purchase one or two things at a time. Charlie can’t wait to check out No-recipe required Vegan Recipes. I can’t wait to dive into the desserts.
About the Cookbook:
A delectable plant-based cookbook and eating guide for preventing and managing diabetes and pre-diabetes from award-winning cookbook author and registered dietitian Jackie Newgent.
Diabetes is an epidemic in the United States. More than 11 percent of the population is living with diabetes, and 38 percent of U.S. adults have prediabetes. Diabetes can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, and lower-limb amputation. Recent research has also shown a connection between diabetes and dementia, hearing loss, and some forms of cancer. Experts point to diet as a key component in preventing and treating diabetes and prediabetes—particularly one featuring fruits and vegetables. That’s where The Plant-Based Diabetes Cookbook comes in, helping people with diabetes—or at risk for developing it—enjoy more plants. The key word is “enjoy.”
Here, Jackie Newgent, RDN, CDN, an award-winning cookbook author and classically-trained chef, offers 100 percent plant-based recipes that are full of flavor with fresh, modern appeal. At the same time, the dishes appeal to all eaters, not just vegetarians. The book is packed with more than 125 recipes, plenty of hearty main dishes, tasty menus, and hundreds of helpful tips. Following today’s current nutrition therapy guidelines, readers can follow a flexible plan without being overly focused on calories, carb-counting, or other strict macronutrient or micronutrient parameters. People with diabetes and prediabetes—and their families and friends—will benefit from the deliciousness The Plant-Based Diabetes Cookbook brings to the table, and the good health it brings to their lives!
