The New Christmas

The Mommies Reviews

The Yuletide Season is here which you wouldn’t see it coming but Christmas is almost here. As early as September, some families start to plan what gift wrapper design they’d use for their presents, or what dishes must be prepared for the gatherings, but as time and circumstances change due to the Pandemic, we might be celebrating the holiday this year differently.

With Coronavirus Infection rates expanding and neighborhood lockdowns coming into power, an ordinary Christmas appears to be a wish that even Santa won’t have the option to grant. So what would we be able to anticipate from this happy season this year?

Sometimes, different doesn’t mean less. So here are tips that we would want to share with all of you to help you get through a socially distant and safe Christmas celebration for 2020!

  • Huge Family Gatherings are Cancelled, but Mini-Masses are in!

We won’t be able to hold one big-time gathering on Christmas Eve this year due to the need of following the health and safety protocol, but we could invite our families and friends to come over by schedule.

  • Be the Home-Trained Cook your Quarantine made you!

With days, weeks, or even months spent inside your home, learning easy and new styles in cooking (or even baking), this is the perfect time to show off your newly learned skills by doing things from scratch. Don’t let that youtube tutorial go to waste. Now, if you feel like the time you spent watching those videos is still not enough, don’t you worry, you still have a lot of time to add more knowledge!

  • Avoid stress!

It is easy to say, but hard to do. But with the level of stress this Pandemic has already given humanity, try not to take much pressure for this year’s Christmas celebration. Just take it easy and rely on quick but useful tips to make your preparation less hassle, no pressure.

  • Stock up and Chill…

When the Pandemic started, we have witnessed worst-case scenarios of citizens panic-buying goods and necessities, in fear that they may not be able to visit the stores for a long time of quarantine. Now, with the Christmas season coming up, apply this tip (but remember not to panic when doing so!) Shopping for needed ingredients at an earlier time will help you get peace of mind and will help you successfully attain our third tip.

Since we cannot invite everyone for a grand celebration for this year, tap and get help from technology and the internet! Virtually connect with your faraway friends and family, then host your party through Zoom Meetings or such. I bet it is not the medium of the event that matters, but the people you are celebrating with.

Truly, there are various ways to make your Christmas memorable. Santa might not be able to grant our wish to get rid of the pandemic just yet, but that won’t stop us from painting the town red. Get up and get those playful imaginations working; Christmas is just around the corner.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
