The Mommies Reviews

I wanted to bring a novel called The Hunted Rose (Good Tales For Bad Dreams Book 5) by V.M. Sawh (Author) which is defiantly for adults. I received a PDF Copy of the book from Voracious Readers and the Author in exchange for this review. The thoughts in the review are my families.  The Hunted Rose (Good Tales For Bad Dreams Book 5) is a reimagined fairy tale based on Little Red Riding Hood. This story is very violent, graphic, and unbelievable with fantasy woven in, inappropriately. Now that I know this I’m not sure I would read more of this Authors books but I know David would because he enjoys this type of story.

V.M. Sawr brings us a new version of the Grimms’ fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood, as a World War II novella about Rose. Rose began her journey to her Grand-Maman’s house, the Nazis had shot Rose’s father at their small family vineyard. Rose tried to save him, it was too late and he died. Before he died he gave Rose some vital information that could save her beloved Grand-Maman. Rosa is on a mission to warn the French freedom fighters and save her Grandmother.

After, a frightening episode with a wolf, she reluctantly accepts help from a hunter she meets and they begin travelling together, with the hungry wolf trailing them. Rose didn’t completely trust the hunter, but she felt she had little choice, with a wolf and Nazis ready to kill her at any turn. The story takes an unexpected turn and a series of supernatural events occur before Rose finally reaches her Grand-Maman’s cottage.

About the book:

When her father is murdered by Nazis right before her eyes, seventeen-year-old Rose Harcourt must go on the run. She undertakes a harrowing journey through the forest in an effort to rescue the only family she has left—her Grandmother. With Nazis combing the forest looking for French rebels and fleeing Jews, Rose knows her mission is do-or-die. The journey to her Grandmother’s cottage is even more dangerous than she thought. A murderous wolf is stalking the forest and killing everyone it encounters. Can she escape with her Grandmother before the Nazis—or the wolf, finds her first?
