The Earl and The Enchantress by Paullett Golden

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share what I knew would turn out to be a romance novel with you. The Earl and The Enchantress by Paullett Golden (Author) which I received a PDF copy of in exchange for this review from Voracious Readers. Inside this post are my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage off the items you purchase.

The Earl and the Enchantress is what I would call a Historical Romance while others may refer to the story as a regency romance. The Earl and The Enchantress first came out in 2018, which I didn’t know and I was surprised to learn there are 4 other books in the series which I plan to check out and I hope you do as well.

The story is set in 1790, from Cornwall to the far north of England following Lizbeth journey which will keep you on your toes. Be prepare to laugh at time and cry at other times. The Author makes use feel like were inside the story and I loved learning about the Countryside which I would like to visit one day.

The Earl and The Enchantress is the story of Lizbeth Trethow and her sister’s coming out into London society. Lizbeth is the older sister who has decided she will never let a man control her and we learn Lizabeth would rather spend her life as a governess or nanny than be ruled by a man. Charlotte is the younger sister who wants all that is associated with being prominent in society.

Charlotte is courted by Drake who is a Duke. His cousin Sebastian who is an Earl is smitten by Lizbeth. Charlotte marries Drake and he takes her far away from her home to live in his Castle. Charlotte loves the idea of being royalty but does not enjoy being so far from her home and the endless things she must learn about running a castle. After a short while Charlotte sends Lizbeth and her aunt a message asking them to come for a visit.

Lizbeth and her Aunt travel a very long distance to the castle and find that the Earl who is Drake’s cousin lives very nearby. Sebastian courts Lizbeth while she is at Drake’s castle and gets Lizbeth to marry him. Sebastien has many demons and tries to push his new bride away when she tries to break through the demons.

Lizbeth finds that Sebastian’s main demon is that he thinks he is responsible for family deaths. Lizbeth spends her time trying to find out what really happened in that period of time. All things have to be resolved before they can truly enjoy life together. I love that the story shares family conflict and what Sebastien’s dad did.

About the Book:

Not all scars can be healed with a kiss.

Sebastian Lancaster, Earl of Roddam, harbors a family secret so dark he has forsaken marriage to hide the past. When fate introduces him to Lizbeth, he believes he has met his perfect match—a woman with whom he can share passion without commitment.

Lizbeth Trethow risks everything to follow her heart until Sebastian’s past returns to haunt them. Desperate to hide the blood on his hands, he sabotages their happiness. Everything depends on Lizbeth unraveling the truth and turning this villain into a hero.

This is the love story of Lizbeth and Sebastian as they battle metaphoric ghosts born of murder and enlightenment to be together.

This edition is considered a closed-door romance, available in digital and print.
The audiobook of this title is the
steamy edition.
