I wanted to share a new book with you called Ruby Ann’s Down Home Trailer Park Cookbook the book is written by Ruby Ann Boxcar (Author). Inside this post is my affiliate links. If you click on the link and make a purchase I will make a small percentage from the products you purchase.
I remember when we decided to move into our Mobile Home or Trailer I told David I didn’t want to live there because I didn’t want to be known as “trailer park trash” but that wasn’t the case in our Mobile Home ie Trailer Park.
Everyone was friends and even became family. Even though we’ve moved from there we’ve kept all of our friends and some of the families living there have been there for over 20 years. If I could move back into a Mobile Home or Trailer Park I would like to live in Ruby Ann’s community.
I like how all the tenants had recipes they didn’t mind sharing with others. Learning about the people in the Trailer Park I laughed for hours on end. I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes in the book including the Mayonnaise Cake I’ grew up with. I’ve heard about all my life.
I need to let you know some of the recipes didn’t include the measurements which is fine with me because this is how I learned to cook. How about you? A pink of this and a smidgen of that. ie Grandma’s cooking.
The problem with the recipes is they aren’t healthy which means they wouldn’t work on my diet so even if I made the recipes my family would eat them not me. Just eat in moderation otherwise your arteries might not survive.
My favorite part of The Down Home Trailer Park Cookbook is how each recipe is accompanied by the name and trailer lot number from whom the recipe originated We can also discuss Elvis with the residents and see if they love him as much as I do.
I also would like to remind them no, child is ugly ever. David said he doesn’t care what is happening he isn’t going to turn wrestling off. What about you? Being a Baptist I loved learning about the Baptist in this book. There is adult content including topless dancing and adultery.
I also was amazed to learn Ruby Ann is close to 300 pounds because I’m not far from that which is why I have to stay far away from the recipes. Having The Down Home Trailer Park Cookbook has reminded me it’s time to take my life back and lose this weight or I will not be able to take any road trips because I will not be here and I sure don’t want that to happen.
About the book;
“Food,” says Ruby Ann Boxcar, “is one thing all trailer park people have in common, followed by their undyin’ love of Elvis and the reproduction of ugly children.” The recipes of trailer dwellers are unlike any others.
Its been known to make men turn championship wrestling off, large women in double knit polyester slacks dance, and derelict children smile. That’s why Ruby Ann has taken the time to write down her favorite recipes in an easy to read cookbook (The Down Home Trailer Park Cookbook; A Twister Of Tasty Treats).
This cookbook gives the reader a titillating guide to handed down recipes and an insider’s look at Ruby Ann’s fellow residents at the 20 lot “High Chaparral Trailer Park” in Pangburn, Arkansas. Along with good food and gossip, the reader will come face to face with sex, murder, topless dancing, Baptist ministers, adultery, and political secrets.
The fact that Ruby Ann Boxcar has lived her entire life in a trailer, and her updo hairstyle, cat eyed glasses, and blue eye shadow insures the reader she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to trailer park living. Her 300-pound figure speaks for itself on the question of her cooking credentials.
Thank you,
