This is a review for Thank Y writou, God, for Grandma a children’s board book written by Amy Parker I received in exchange with other books including in exchange for this review to help us celebrate Grandparents Day on September 11th.
Charlie and his grandmother Sherry who is David’s mom are best friends. At times this makes me sad because Charlie wasn’t able to have the same relationship with my mom who lived out of State. My mom loved Charlie more than anything. Now she is gone just like my dad.
Instead of being sad or jealous I’ve been trying to get Charlie to spend more time with his grandparents because his grandfather has been sick. I’ve afraid he will not be here that much longer. Which is also bothering David and Charlie a lot.
Charlie has been asking to make a Chocolate Cake which is something he has always done with his grandmother. I got up this morning to help Charlie. As I begin to get the things out we would need Charlie said no, mom. I called Grandma she is coming to get me. Were going to make the Cake.
As first I was sad because I knew I wanted to help Charlie. But then I knew this would give me the opportunity to work. As well as a chance to have sometime to myself. Charlie went to get ready and as I was gathering things I needed Charlie walked up and said mom can I take this children’s book I found.
I looked to see what Charlie was talking about which was Thank You, God, for Grandma, I told Charlie that was fine but I reminded Charlie that granny isn’t like us and doesn’t talk about God although I believe she believes in him but I am not 100 sure.
Charlie said that is fine mom I can read the book to granny and then we can talk about God. I can make sure she is saved incase something does happen to her. I love how Charlie is using this book to bring the LORD into his grandparents lives.
David heard us talking and asked Charlie to read Thank You. God. for Grandma to him. As Charlie was reading the book David kept telling Charlie hold on I can read this myself I don’t need help. Which made David feel good about himself because he can’t read.
Charlie said he loved the cover of the book and the Bears are so cute and look like there giving each other a kiss. I liked the flowers on the cover while David liked the shade of blue they used. The purple pops and makes this board book stand out.
Charlie enjoyed seeing all the different names for grandmothers. As well as things they do for there grandchildren. As we read the book Charlie let me know what he had and hadn’t done with his grandmother. While I shared what I did with my grandmother when I was a child. Allowing Charlie to get to know my grandmother a little bit better.
I hope you take the time to read Thank You, God, for Grandma and that you share this new children’s board book not only with every child you need of all ages as well as the adults in your lives. Grandparents Day is September 11th. Don’t forget to spoil your grandparents.
