Texas Trail of Fame

The Mommies Reviews

The other day when we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards we went inside where the Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum was. As we walked down the hall we cam upon the Texas Trail of Fame.

I enjoyed looking at all the pictures and planning upcoming lesson plans for Charlie not only in History but also art. I enjoyed having Charlie share facts about some of the people he had learned about in school.

To being our studies in History we will go Century by Century and Charlie will pick out one person to research and compose a review on. Out of this group one of the people Charlie want’s to research is Larry Mahan.

American rodeo performer Larry Mahan (born November 21, 1943, in Salem, Oregon) is an American former professional rodeo cowboy. He won six World All-Around Championships and two Bull Riding World Championships in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuit at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

In this Century Charlie has decided he wants to study the Indian which you see in the picture. I cant wait to see what Charlie finds out about ths Indian and which tribe he belong to.

Suzzane was terrified of Clowns but I love them and wouldn’t being a Clown. I can’t wait to study Quail Dobbs with Charlie and the next time we go to Oklahoma to visit my brother I would like to see if we can find out anything about him.

Quail Dobbs (27 August 1941 in Albany, Texas – 15 January 2014 in Coahoma, Texas) was a famous rodeo clown and performer, inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2002.

Quail Dobbs parents were Acie and Avis Dobbs, and his childhood was marked by many moves. In the late 1950’s, the family moved to Colorado City.

In this Century Charlie has said he wants to learn about Willie Nelson. This is fine since his grandmother is in love with Willie. we can even watch Willie’s movie Honeysuckle Rose.

Charlie can learn why Willie was part of the Highway Men and his this group came into play. For music class Charlie can study Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings who was married to Jessie Colter another Country Musician.

Charlie can study Johnny Cash for music class and why he wore only black. As well as study his marriage to another Country Music Singer June Carter Cash.

Charlie can watch Walk The Line and do a report on the movie. Then Charlie can pick one of Johnny Cash songs to sing for his grandparents on our Talent Show night.

Last but least we will learn about Kris Kristofferson another Musician and one of the Highway Men. Charlie listen to Me and Bobby McGee and watch A Star Is Born to learn more about him.

Charlie can also watch Convoy and listen to some of the best trucker music ever. As well as learn what a Convoy is and how it works. Then he can study the different models of Rigs.

In this Century Charlie has said he wants to study Cadillac Jack (Jack Favor) who was our neighbors grandfather growing up. He was married to Ponder and they have a daughter Jane.

Jack Graves Favor, known as Cadillac Jack Favor (November 30, 1911 – December 27, 1988), was an American rodeo performer who was framed and falsely imprisoned in 1967 for two murders committed in North Louisiana by two hitchhikers whom Favor had given a ride. In a 1974 retrial, he was cleared of the crime and released.

Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack

It has been eighteen months since a prominent couple from Bossier City, Louisiana, was killed execution style during an apparent robbery. District Attorney Earl Wiggins and Deputy Sheriff Lon Gerker, both up for re-election, are desperate for a suspect.

When they learn that Chester Andrson, a scruffy career criminal in a Missouri jail has information about the slayings, they are eager to her what he has to say.

Anderson names as the killer, a cocky Texas rodeo star, Jack Favor (Clint Black) known to some as Cadillac Jack. On the word of a known liar, and without a shred of evidence, Jack is extradited to Louisiana.
