Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park

The Mommies Reviews

A couple weeks ago we were BLESSED with tickets to visit the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park in Dallas with three tickets.

We’ve always walked pat the Texas Discovery Gardens when visiting the State Fair. We would see signs that said a Butterfly House which I’ve wanted to visit forever. Once we arrived we donned our Mask which are required inside the building and went to the Information Booth to check in.

We were given a Map and the Host went over things inside the Facility we would want to check out including the Art Gallery and the Trains which wasn’t running the day we went. But gives us the perfect reason to return another day. When we will bring a lunch to have in the Gardens while Charlie plays in the Playground and David looks through the Snake House.

Before you ask if they got me inside the Snake House Charlie did because he held my hand and lead me past the Snacks to the Turtles which I like and the Lizards which Charlie enjoyed. Then I went and sat outside on the porch of the Snack House while David kept looking around.

Charlie wandered through the Gardens on his own and I didn’t have to worry about Charlie getting lost because everything runs in a circle. Charlie had so much fun finding the Fountain in the middle of the Park that he couldn’t wait for me to come and see it as well.

The water was so calming and the perfect spot to stop and rest my knee. While Charlie and David continued walking around. As they did I began to wander on my own and ended up in the Lavender Fields which I wanted to bring home with me.

Upstairs inside the Facility was the Butterfly Gardens and the main reason for my visit but this was a day Charlie was struggling and heights was bothering Charlie. I didn’t get to go upstairs as I remained downstairs and Charlie and I looked through the hall at the displays of Bugs and the Gift Shop.

David did goes inside the Butterfly House and really wanted me to as well. But like I told David we could come back another day on a Date Night or we could bring Charlie and he might be able to go upstairs then if he was able to do heights which comes and goes.

I was upset that I didn’t get into the Butterfly House and thought I wouldn’t be able to see Butterfly’s but I didn’t need to worry because they were out in the Gardens as well. I could have stayed all day watching them fly though the plants and even Charlie enjoyed watching them.

There is lots of signs throughout the Gardens which works well for Homeschool Lessons from Reading, Science and even Art. Inside was a Conference Room were they host classes and I can’t wait to check into them for Charlie this Summer.

If your walking and tracking your steps this is the perfect place to walk because there is 7.5 acres of Organic Gardens. Along with two floors allowing you to climb stairs if you can and if not there is a Elevator. But needing steps I opted for the Stairs and its what triggered Charlie’s fear of heights.

Discovery Gardens which is located in Dallas’ Historic Fair Park is the perfect Field Trip for families Homeschooling there children. When your planning your trip plan on spending the day. Because you can also visit the Dallas Children’s Aquarium as well. Along with the State Fair if its open.

No, matter what time of year you attend you will see something new creating many Family Memories. The host Family festivals, workshops, free admission days, and our extensive (and growing) EarthKeepers® student education program which introduces children and adults to natural outdoor learning experiences.
