A Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service mini pecan short course and listening session will be part of the annual Texas Pecan Growers Conference and Trade Show July 30-Aug. 2 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Denton Convention Center, 3100 Town Center Trail, Denton.

On July 30 at 4 p.m., AgriLife Extension will host a listening session to provide producers at the conference the opportunity to share their concerns, priorities and any questions related to the industry.
The mini pecan short course will begin on July 31 at 8:30 a.m., with experts and producers from across the country covering some of the most topical industry issues. There will be two integrated pest management and one general Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units offered to those attending the mini pecan short course.
To attend the event, participants must register for the 102nd annual Texas Pecan Growers Conference online at https://tpga.org/tpga-events/. The conference cost is $180 for TPGA members or $200 for non-members. Each registration is valid for two members from the same family. A business rate of $600 for up to five people is also offered.
“Our mini short course is a quick introduction to pecan growing that gives conference-goers who may be new to the industry time to absorb the weightier topics presented over the educational program,” said Monte Nesbitt, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension program specialist in horticulture, Bryan-College Station. “It’s also a preview or very scaled-down version of our four-day Texas Pecan Short Course that we teach in College Station each January.”
During the event, the state pecan show will also be on display.
